My father in law down the road has a peacock that came with the house when they bough it. It's just wild, but it stays right around there and comes up to the house to nibble on bird seed. DIL said something ripped off his tail a couple weeks ago

First, thanks for the pics!
2nd, there isn't a chance in haydes I would use those old chicken houses![]()
I would have to modify them so the chickens got some natural light, don't know if there is a way to open them up, but I wouldn't be able to resist using them!! The biggest reason that I haven't expanded is because I don't have te funds to keep building pens!
aww... that wasn't nice!My father in law down the road has a peacock that came with the house when they bough it. It's just wild, but it stays right around there and comes up to the house to nibble on bird seed. DIL said something ripped off his tail a couple weeks ago![]()
Woah, look at all that unused spaceHere is a closer pic of one coop. The curtains are automatic as well as the feeders..water..fans and lights. Everything is old and outdated and I have been taking down the feeders and water system before the fall down. These have been empty 4 years. I suppose one could replace a few roof panels with the clearish ones. I don't use them, they are empty aside of a few pieces of equipment.![]()
My FIL swears it was a bear, but pretty sure a bear would have eaten it if it it close enoug to tear all the tail feathers out. The game warden doesn't think it was a bear either, FIL is a bit of a psycho, he found a large dog print (like it could have been our rotties footprint) and took a picture and showing everyone saying it was the bearaww... that wasn't nice!
Oh My, I've died and gone to chicken heavenHere is a closer pic of one coop. The curtains are automatic as well as the feeders..water..fans and lights. Beth doesn't use the chicken houses... because she knows she would lose control. We all know how good her hatching skills are... I swear, the woman could hatch a rock. Here is a closer pic of one coop. The curtains are automatic as well as the feeders..water..fans and lights. now you are talking my languageI can see the sides with walk out doors added to grassy space. Inside keep the fans (atleast here with our heat) add in green roof panels for additional interior light and sub divide into spacious foul (ha ha) weather living quarters. Wouldnt even need to have lots of pens, but would make for fabulous LARGE pens. Waterfowl in the building to the right, poultry to the left.
Thanks, and yes she needs some help. Those 2 statements g together. I now a lot of 9 year olds that know the words, BT not what any of it means. Sounds like that little girl really needs attentionSorry it is stressing out your little boy.
I suggested the same thing to the school this morning. It sounds to me like that little girl has been a victim of abuse. Either her parents don't know, don't believe her, are responsible, or don't know how to cope. Speaking from experience with birth parents who didn't believe me and didn't care, and adoptive parents who tried their best to cope with a situation far outside their knowledge base and comfort zone, she is still going to suffer. I hope it's not the case, but I Unfortuantely believe it so. It is still unexcusable for her, and she will need consequences. I am sorry it was your son that got mixed up with it, a very unwilling and unexpecting participant![]()
MINE on those old coops! Oh my lord one for the turkeys and one for the chickens! It is such a pretty day here today...so I took a bunch of pictures, thought I would share. Here is my head drake..Haggard.Trio of Bantam Cochin from herducks chicken train...whom I have not seen on lately. Yes..they are in a playpen...my makeshift quarantine.
Here are the OLD chicken houses I mentioned earlier.
Here is where I contain most of my birds. I have portable horse fencing cover with welded wire..so they have access to fresh grass.
My handsome Peacock....Cesar.

MINEMINEMINEMINEMINE! Seriously when can the kid and I move in? Just got in to take a break. Coop cleaning is exhausting work! I also know that I will never ever again do deep litter. No way! It's not for me. I ill just shovel everything out once a month and replenish. Much easier on my poor aching back. I still have about a third of the one coop I working one to get the crap out. Then wash, spray, dry, and put all new bedding back in. Oh Lordy I'm gonna be sitting in the hot hot hot bath tonight. Guess we are having sandwiches as that's one of the few things my son can make that we have in the house. I'll eat in the tub! Here is a closer pic of one coop.
