LOL I'm still trying my darnedest to deny myself the penciled palms.

It's just terrible!  They just stopped and I have kept holding out, crossing my fingers and trying to get all my orders out.  I didn't expect them to just STOP altogether!!!  I have been trying to keep in contact with people with updates and give them options to wait or for eggs when they start again.  Are you sure you want to wait, or I can do PP or treat boxes as well.

I'm fine with waiting. I never shut off all the incubators and lord knows they will lay again like clock work.

I have two very bad girls right now. I think they are hiding eggs. One across the very busy highway and the other down by the railroad tracks. I will have to sit and watch them. Bad girls!

okay so you guys with EO Maradunna basque-

are the hens ever white with mottling? I have been thinking this one chicken is a boy forever because of his coloring but all the other chickens in his age group have declared themselves with wattle and combs except for him. He still looks very pullet-like. but his color screams cockerel. any chance he is a pullet?

I think I have seen those rabbit cages before. So standard cornish how long do they have to grow before they are big enough to process? Do they need to rest more/longer or be cooked differently? hhmmm

Depends on what you want them for. Cornish game is only I think three or four weeks if that. I go by size. Three to four months for fryers and four to six for roasters. I would NOT suggest the dark for your area, but the white laced red would do nicely. The flavor and texture are so different than that mushy crud from the store. Ours forage for most of their feed even over the winter. Which is weird because they are not supposed to, but they do. Might be how we raise them. Once they reach a certain age I only feed in the evening. The rest is up to them. There are chickens everywhere pecking here and pecking there around here. Makes for pretty yard art. At the end of the day the girls come waddling in with huge bulging crops that almost drag on the ground. That's exactly what they should look like too.
