so, I have chicks coming from GFF - supposed to be today but, tracking on them is all messed up- they received the electronic shipping info after they were accepted at the sort facility - confused- called and sort of tracked it but all they can tell me is that it is on a pallet with 98 items that has not been scanned or updated since yesterday at 4:43- not really happy- at all

There is a timeline change in the panhandle of our state lol. From FL they goto Memphis the blackhole sorting center. there they will never be scanned as they handle all of the east coast live bird boxes there. Says by 5/1 at 3pm so lots of time for them to "pop" back up again in the system.

It just concerns me because my main facility always tells me that the express truck is always here by 10:30 and if they are not on that truck they will not be here. But, I hope you are right and they still get here today

Tonight I go back to work for 7 nights.  I work 7pm to 7am for 7 nights then I'm off for 7.  Does anybody else here work night shift?

Are you talking about me? I would have answered you sooner, but I was napping after working the mid shift. Mon. thru Thur nights, 8:30pm to 6:30am. Welcome to the madness!

Thank you. I will want them. How old are they? I have decided to get rid of my Mottled Houdans as soon as I fill my swaps with them. They are just too flighty. I have them in my layer cage and the whole flock just erupts whenever anything happens.

I should have my swaps cleared in less than a month. I just need to check fertility next week.

I'm getting RIR eggs from 202roosterlane and Jim Heinz so should have a good flock of RIR going by fall. I've got Rhodebar eggs coming in the mail this week. Want to hatch them for me? I'm afraid to put anything I really want in the incubator until I get it fixed.

We have boxes that in the past were the next day andare now two days. The government furlows have changed timelines on shipping. It sucks more because the online system doesnt tell you arrival time when surfing the shipping options. Stamps are all black and white because of budget cuts. Sadly since it says by 3 they have till three to get them there. If you only have 1 truck a day and its only in the morning it sounds like it will be tomorrow.

GFF over charges on the shipping cost to begin with, then adding the hassles and delays the PO system gives its no fun.

I think I am having an issue with the ones I just bought.  Does anyone have a recommendation for a good thermometer and how to keep them calibrated?  Mine are giving me fits. 

I broke down and got a brinsea spot check, and used it to check my own temp as a calibration.

Then I used it to figure how much off my others were. I use them all the time as a general guide and turn the spot check on 2x a day or so. It is more then others but very accurate. And easy to check by popping in your mouth if you know your normal temp.

That would be wonderful. I have one that is very similar I bought to make a cabinet incubator but haven't used yet. If I have a wiring diagram, I am sure DH can get it fixed as he worked as an Electronic Tech in the AF.
