wonder if threatening to eat the OEGBs and White Rhodes would coax them into laying?Well, the turkey hen finally gave me an egg. I was just talking about butchering her too, lol.

That is such a generous offer, certainly no one is responsible for fulfilling anyone else's swaps. I think accepting any swap is just a leap of faith. When you are dealing on the internet, you never know for sure about the person you are trading with, even a company. My opinion was always, don't do a trade that will break you.
It's much like lending money to a friend or family member. Assume it's a gift and if they repay you, that's a bonus. That way you can't be disappointed and ruin a relationship, you can only be pleasantly surprised when they follow through.
And I have hatched quite a few swap eggs, I now have some lovely chicks growing out in my flock..................BBS marans, BBS ameraucana, lilac ameraucana............I forget what else at the moment. It always gives me pleasure to hear about my "grandchicks" hatching out and living in various parts of the country.
I will admit I am greedily anticipating eggs for crele orps, chocolate orps, Stukel BR..................and chicks from the lav. orps that are already in the incubator.
Maybe? Lol. My seramas haven't even been breeding. The roo I have left has never crowed. They're 5-6 months old now! My cochins do the squat, but they're under QT so I can't do anything with their eggs anyways. Maybe if I keep an LG open for them, I can incubate them alone.wonder if threatening to eat the OEGBs and White Rhodes would coax them into laying?![]()
Quote: I always say take out a cookbook and start reading recipes to them.
Lol, I was just thinking i need to get another serama hen, I dont know if 2 will give me enough eggs, nutmeg lays only when she feels like it, but she is a young thing yet.I need to hatch out more seramas. Last year I hatched about 25 of them, 23 cockerels. Grrrrrr![]()
Yesterday, a new 4H family showed up. Two of the kids were looking for bantams. The little boy wanted a male and the little girl wanted a female. They both wanted seramas.
In my seramas, I have about 20 cockerels/roos.....................and about 5 pullets/hens. I went ahead and sold them one of my hens because the little girl's face was so expectant and the whole family was so nice.
The problem was the father admitted to being remiss. They needed showable birds for a Fair 4 weeks from now.............that left out every bantam chick.
I have seriously got to hatch out more girls this year!
I would imagine all of the stress and the major changes in her life this past year aggravate it even further. Let her know she is in our prayers and thank you for updating everyone.
I really need to crank out the ducks. Quail and turkeys second. My ducks are the best meat and easiest for me to butcher. I just have been having terrible hatches. I've had 40 or so fertile pekin eggs that haven't hatched because of my bator issues. Ducks and turkeys bring the most money back, but chickens produce decent meat fast, quail are cheap meat, but take a lot to produce a meal. The chickens don't sell for squat. Even fully grown meaties. Nobody around here wants to butcher their own birds and I am not equipped to do so. It's hard enough butchering meat for ourselves without a plucker! $2k is too much and I'm not sure how well a drill plucker would work. Anyone know how the pluckers do on the tiny fuzzy feathers?
Dang, I could sell serama roos by the bucketful.I need a serama roo, mine is half blind and can't see well enough to do the do!
