I think my problem is everything I have going on...moving, going in debt on two houses back to back, hubbys Mom being here, going in debt on two houses back to back, building temporary pens, going in debt on two houses back to back, moving birds and inkies....maybe I am stressed

When we made the move to our farm which just happens to be 2 houses from the church we attend, we had 2 house payments. We knew this would be a strain on the budget but were hopeful for a fairly quick sell, 2 years later we finally have no second house payment.

I would do all again, it was rough but GOD provided and we are so happy where we are at now. I could not have chickens where I was at before, I mean when I bought the place I would never have thought not having farm animals would be a deal breaker.

Now we have 3 horses, 6 goats, a buster and about 300 chickens, I mean 325 no 350 wait maybe 375, LOL it changes so fast oh yeh and 21 turkeys.

The cool thing about dorkings is they also have a really mellow temperment.

The bad thing is it is getting hard to find them. You can get the silver greys from the hatcheries but the reds and whites you have to go to a breeder for and most times you have to wait a while. But the silver-greys are pretty easy to sex as day olds which people like. They aren't quite "autosexing" but with an educated eye, you can tell by the wider headstripe and eye-liner on the girls.

(I cant help because my flock is now closed...but I can promote them!)

University of Arkansas is now carrying the silver greys. I have a few growing out right now. I need to get more eggs to get a larger flock. I've got one 14 week of red Dorking cockerel with more eggs in the incubator as we speak.

lol...I can't live somewhere I couldn't have my animals! We will have both mortgages to pay until we get out of this house totally, and get it rented...hopefully by someone who will pay the rent!!! and there is an older home next door that belongs to us, we just need to do a little remodeling, and then rent that one too. So it won't be too bad for too long, just the initial thought of it all is quite overwhelming at times. And the fact that hubby is only home about 10 days out of the month, so most everything falls on me.
