testers charge, I test and I charge a 1.00 each bird, if you buy swap and trade a lot it is really a big pain to keep up with , i personally am not NPIP because I dont want the goverment intrusion in my flocks , but that being said I am a tester and test my birds myself.

Where do you get the test kits or do you send the samples out somewhere?

You can buy the supplies from strohmbergs or someone like that or check with your state Arkansas offers classes each year to get certified , most states offer similar programs just check with your extension agent.

Wow, see... When I was talking to my tester, he said the Florida NPIP was really low on funds. I asked him why they didn't charge for the testing, like 25 cents a bird or something, he said that it wouldn't pass a vote- that people with lots of birds would end up dropping out of the program. They would rather test flocks. It doesn't really make sense to me to only test once a year, it would seem be better to get tested at least a few times year

Just so any silkie lovers are wanting eggs. I have many I plan to swap. I have paint eggs from my SQ pen up for swap right now. I upped my offer to a dozen eggs. I also have sizzle eggs offered, same amount of eggs and if you want both you can pick how many of each you would like to have for your dozen. I have 2 dozen of each so if anybody is interested in buying more, they are available. My price is $20 for a dozen sizzle and $30 for a dozen silkie. If you would like less eggs I can do that too. The price is cut in half. Shipping for 6 eggs is $13.00 and for a dozen is $15.00. I use a much bigger box with more packing so the eggs arrive safetly to your door. I don't have any heat packs but in our area the weather is going to warm up and I will ship them friday or saturday which ever you'd rather have them.

I'm working on a project and don't want to put any other eggs in the bator right now except my project eggs. I would be terribly tempted to put the paints in if I can't get them "rehomed".

Here in TN it's free for the testing. If you want the certificate to prove your flock is clean it costs $25.00 no matter how many birds are tested.

4 Khaki Campbell from tdhenson. Light, dark & khaki... My broody hatched all 7 of the eggs sent. 1 died under the broody the first night 2 more disappeared...so 4 little quackers running the barnyard.

And since I only keep Muscovy, a wonderful friend of mine will take them home.

It looks like you got 2 white campbells, a dark, and one of my project campbell/rouen crosses. That's why the one has the eye markings. Beautiful little duckies!!! Congrats on them!!!

Redbrushfarm-
I live in MO too. Haven't been NPIP tested yet, but I'm getting ready to send in the paperwork this week. There's no charge. They only test poultry over 4 months of age, younger ones will have to wait until next year. They will test your peafowl too. If you have waterfowl they will test them the first year, but generally not after since they don't carry the diseases npip checks for. Just email Rose Foster, she's really nice and will answer any questions pretty quick. [email protected] The main reason I am getting npip is so I will be able to ship, and save time at shows.

Im glad I am NPIP, kinda makes me feel like I care about my birds and others too. The state came out and tested all of my birds for free. Kansas, and the AI test was also free.

Here is the pics of the silky chick that I hatched from emvickery

sure is a sweet chick, I hope to get some more!!!
