I have been wanting one really bad. It is on my Christmas wish list. Do you think it was worth the price?
It wasn't cheap, even with ten percent off but if you have the money and want a bright candler that's convenient to use, even during the daytime, it's worth it in my opinion. It's the ova view with a setup that sits over it. You set the egg on the platform, slide the light blocker on around the egg (doesn't touch it) and turn on the light. It has a feature that allows you to turn/rotate the egg while you view it. It's neat. Try to get it on sale...

I have heard bad things about the regular, non high intensity model though but I haven't used it so I can't say for sure.

Tolbunts and Isbars we can cover.

The only thing I don't like about it is you have to pick the egg up to candle it. I prefer not to handle my eggs until it's time to move them to the hatcher. Too much risk of me dropping it.

Those will be available WV.... they just gotta grow up some....
unfortunately I do not know about the Wheaten Marans, but I am sure someone will show up with some...

working on that one. I had swapped on the show quality egg swap and waiting for her wheatens to start back up. I had a pair but the young cockerel died. Now I just have the hen and looking for a roo for her. she is in with my blue marans right now AND my blues laid 2 more eggs today!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! yippee

I will be contacting the first one on the list for them once I set these to check fertility. I am NOT breaking them open!

My birds just got tested for NPIP!!! Now to wait...... the blood test was fine, and he said he is sure the swabs are fine too....so hopefully in about 2 weeks I will be certified!!

That was one of the problems with deciding when to apply for NPIP is because in some states you can only receive eggs from NPIP sources. When doing a breeding program that needs to be progressive (not making production birds -- same, same, same) that can become a real issue in finding a breeder that has stock from a different 'source'.

So, you are saying that you can still bring in eggs from all of these various sources? That would be so great.!!! Congrats k/

I am so thankful mine sort of does. Funny how when we started this he wanted nothing to do with it. Now, you wouldn't believe which chickens are his here. Yup, the silkies. I make sure everyone knows too. Yup, those little fluff balls are my husband's.

My DH claims the serama, silkies, SGs, bantam cochins, polish (he apparently like froofroo birds) and the CCL.

I'd love to see how they are turning out. They do seem to run like a battery..................Everready!

Big risk for sure. I don't candle often and I am really careful and position a thick towel between and move very deliberately. So far so good. I have this irrational fear of a rotten egg exploding.. The incubators are in my sitting room/closet area between the master bedroom and hallway and I don't want our clothes to smell!
