My yaks are mostly the "Royal" color which is the piebald pattern. This is the herd:


And this is my bull, Bullet

See how he kinda looks like a Holstein on steroids? haha I think so, anyway...

Then the "T" is for our last name, and Acres is because we only have 10, so it's not really a huge RANCH

The cockerel had enough energy to fly himself right out of the package as soon as we got home. I only opened it a little bit and whoosh he was out. We only peeked in at the PO to make sure they were all alive...opened it fully once we were home. Then he realized he was the only one out and stomped back to the box and pitched fits until we got both his girls out. Yes...his girls plural. The breeder sent me not one but two absolutely flawless pullets along with an insanely gorgeous cockerel. I know there is no "perfect chicken" but dang...these surely must come close. They ate a *lot* and drank a *lot* and then fell asleep.
Pictures tomorrow of everyone - I'm letting them rest and settle tonight. Thank you everyone for your warm thoughts and prayers, I have no doubt at all that it made a big difference in the outcome.

I pray cj and papa's birds come to them healthy and alert as well! Please post as soon as you hear anything about your featherbabies you two.

So what would happen if I crossed an americauna with one of the breeds (like welsummer) that produces a splatter-paint egg. I am thinking the eggs would be gorgeous blue with the splatter painted brown on them. Would that work? anyone know? would it have to be one direction or the otherr to work? (ie would the roo have to be either a welsummer or an americauna, or would either option work?)

Well, I do know that when you cross an aneraucana with a darker egg layer, you generally get olive eggers -- I'd think the eggs would be more green than blue, but it'd be an interesting experiment!

Pretty egg though, many people keep what's called Olive Eggers (myself included).

Haha! Yeah, He's only 3 in that pic. His skirt should touch the ground in a year or two if he stays out of the pond... that just gets the guard hairs to break off!

So I have decided high humidity during lock down does not really help. I hatched 9/12 eggs last week with a humidity of around 40%. This time for lock down humidity is around 65% and everyone who has pipped is shrink wrapped

I am slowly helping a couple chicks out of their shells. I cannot figure out what is going on!
