What size flat-rate shipping box do all of you use to ship 6+ eggs in? 12+ eggs? Just trying to plan how much it will cost me if/when I get addicted to this egg swapin' thing

breda have feathered legs, correct? well here is one of the black chickens.... it is feather legged, and then there is one just like it, but is not faether legged... 5 toes

As you may now have realized some of us here are working on acquiring all the breeds that have been promised by the person who we don't think will deliver. I think we have them all covered plus some others. ;). You will just ha e o wait until Spring and see.

And for me personally I am VERY aware of how many swaps I owe for Spring eggs. I for see no problem filling my orders and paying the postage. Also in the catastrophic event I all my flocks, despite them being in 3 locations I will refund everyone thru paypal.

Silkie Folks - Where do you order your silkies from when you want to improve your line? I have been looking at catdance silkies....

Thanks for letting us know. Its hard to understand what's going on when we don't know what's happening behind the scenes. I really appreciate it.

You can go to the usps site and it is a p-i-a for someone like me to navigate. But, if you follow around and over the hills you will find where you can order boxes but be aware that if you ship in a "flat rate" box of a set price and try to use a different service (like regional rate) the receiver will get billed the difference. If you accidentally pay a higher rate than the box is slated I don't know if anyone gets refunded .... funny how that goes.

I didn't have the size I needed last week so had to do an order for #07 and 04 (I think) for one kind of service for the taller height (more square). The regional rate box A is a tidy size if you don't use a lot of loose filler like crumpled paper as is the Flat rate Med. The Flat rate large is nice 'foot-print' square but is only as deep as the medium (like 5 1/2 in). In my case, the adult duck eggs and adult Jersey eggs are quite long and I don't think I can get enough top and bottom 'cushion' in the regular flat rate one. I had to pack the ducks at an angle instead of up/down to use the two layers of large bubble wrap all sides around. We'll know in a month if it was bounced around too much or not =:~). So I pay a bit extra, for sure, but I like the cube shape of the #07 (? I know it when I see it).

ps these are at no add'l cost and are delivered to you at no cost, but I ask mine to be held at the PO for me to pick up. The standard flat rate med or large are in our post office to get as needed. The order takes about 5-10 days. Have fun figuring out the best cost -- not, hate it, not good at it! But you really need to coordinate the price based on the box type as the PO boxes are a set form of calculation.
Good Luck. ps try shipping to a friend and back again to try out your method =:~) as eggs in "not-cracked" isn't the same as "eggs that go to chicks"

I went off to tractor supply to get some wormer for my goats and come back to over a hundred posts!!!!

OT: got an angora with poopy pants. been trying everything. scared he's gooing to get dehydrated soon, hoping switching wormers might help. being the caretaker for animals is so hard when they cant tell you what's wrong! guess it is similar to human kids...you fret and fret just trying to get it right.
