Hatching Eggs / Paypal CHAT Thread

Oh, so now I'm playing a guessing game. I got my GFF eggs today and they didn't send codes this time. Some I recognized, others no. I got mint green eggs. I'm assuming Isbars but I've never seen them mint green. Then I got one egg with a code I've not seen before and it was only one egg. And it didn't look like the rest. Kind of light brown but it had some speckles on it.

I am thinking the light brown with speckles might be a Bielefelder. On the Bielefelder thread someone described them as Welsummers with sex-link barring. Since many Welsummers lay beautiful speckled eggs.... Maybe?

FYI - I just ordered a ecoglow from brinsea. They are on sale for $20 off and there is a coupon for additional 10% that works for anything you order. Just thought if someone was thinking about ordering, this is the best offer I have found. Hope the ecoglow is as good as everyone says. I ordered the large size as I have over 80 eggs getting ready to hatch

That swap sounds like fun. I won't be here, so if it works out well, we should try it again another day.

Thanks for the info Redbrush, I wish I had the money. For our chicks last spring, I made a home made version. I bought a flat lizard heater from Amazon, I think it was like $12. I taped it to a wire shelf thing, and bent the sides down to about the height of the chicks. The first couple weeks I also added a heating pad under the bedding under the other heater. Worked great. I think the limit is about 12-14 chicks though. I have 23 eggs in the incubator right now, I guess if I get lucky and end up with a great number in lockdown, I will be fixing up something else. lol

It probably would, I was just trying to get away as cheap as possible. We already had a really old heating pad that stays on (the new ones all seem to shut them selves off). The reptile heat mat was a bit more than I thought though. http://www.amazon.com/Flukers-Ultra...id=1355454079&sr=1-25&keywords=reptile+heater

I was back and forth between that, and a heating pad like you posted, but in my head, if I am going to spend $32, I might as well just spend $60 and get the real thing.

Birdnbeast you'd better come over here before we get in trouble!

Seriously. I'm going to have a bunch of babies if most of these hatch!

The heating pad alone probably would have been good enough (we had them in the kitchen the first few weeks), but I liked the idea of having something above them, also.

If anyone sees any Crele Orps offered again, PLEASE feel free to claim them for me... I've been stalking waiting for them and I always seem to miss them when I'm either asleep, at school, or at my internship. My offer is $16 paypal.

A million billion thanks!

I found a pic. The probe is a cooking thermometer that would go off if it got too hot. (First chicks, I was a bit over zealous. lol )
