I have 6 SFHs on lockdown from BHep! They are due to hatch today and at least 2 are internally pipped. All are very active and wiggly! Woot!!!

Just wanted to let those who claimed them know, that I set 11 of my Isabella (lavender) marans F1's and ALL of them hatched! All but 3 have some feathering on their legs so happy hatching!
I have been doing research on the Isabella (which is what the original breeder I bought my first eggs from called them). It seems it fits as the definition is lavender base that dilutes say the copper in the marans. Leaving them looking like a birchen. Whether that will be something stays with I don't know. Most likely people will call them lavender birchen or something.

But I am pretty excited as the original eggs I bought didn't produce any feather legs in the first generation. I have more clean leg in the original pen than anything. I wasn't until the next cross of the original pen that I had some feather legs and mostly in the black chicks at this point. So I am looking forward to this new pen of my own birds!

I'll take some pics of the chickies later today. I just moved them out of the hatcher.

No, the PO messes up the mail all the time. Christmas just gives them an excuse so people won't rant so much. During the summer I had a box of eggs shipped from Ohio go to Alaska before coming back to Missouri. My expensive box of chicks from GFF sat at the FL PO for a full day before being forwarded. They were delivered in 48 hours instead of 24 and I lost almost all of them. The chicks that survived the trip just didn't rebound and they died off after the hatchery's guarantee window.
