My pullet Meringue just laid an itty bitty egg! ...should "batorize" it and see what happens or should I pop a hole in it and blow it out for a keepsake?

...is it normal for chickens to lay eggs at night? I thought chickens laid eggs in the daylight hours for some reason.

Keepsake!!! I have 2 of them now.

At 4 am when it started snowing there was no snow on the ground. It is supposed to keep snowing until tomorrow night. This is why i was home to help chicks hatch today.

Goodness, I hope everyone's chicks arrive in good shape. It's so heartbreaking getting chicks that didn't make it.

On another note, I think I have out-done my problem rat. I've been putting out plain wet cat food a few nights in a row. Last night I laced it with rat poison and it eat every bit of it. Put more out tonight. I'm going to keep putting it out until I see it's not being eaten anymore!!

Please be careful with rat poison. If your birds get a hold of that rat (any pet for that matter) they can die from eating that poisoned rat.
