I...am...certifiably and irrevocably a complete noob!! Disregard my post about an itty bitty egg.

It was a large turd that looked like an itty bitty egg until I tried to pick it up.

I could NOT get a good picture. the one with the back of the head showing would not stand still, very active, running and jumping around! But they look just alike! Yellow on chest and wing tips. One is a barred rock and the other a sex liked olive egger:

And a sex linked maran...what color? Yep just like the other two! How am I ever going to tell these guys apart?

Anybody know if they are boys are girls? I don't know how the sex linked part works for these guys.

it!!

Beautiful chicks; congrats.

I'll let the experts tell you about sexing this and that and the other thing - I'm dreadful at gender-guessing. =/

....but I think sex-link isn't auto-sexing. Auto-sexing is where you know the genders and sex-link I *think* is just related to colors.

The one still in the shell was stuck. There was a place on his back where the shell got stuck to him. I took a couple pics then used a little warm water to loosen it up. He is out now, but wet.

Is it ALWAYS a bad thing to have "hatchery stock"? Are there hatcheries that anyone would recommend? I have people ask me but other than Mt. Healthy I do not know any....

There's nothing wrong with hatchery stock if you are looking for healthy egg laying birds. If you are looking for show quality, you almost will never be able to find them at a hatchery.
