I have to brag about my find today. They are building a house down the road and have a HUGE pile of wood in the front. We stopped and asked and they said we could have all that we wanted

They had almost full sheets of OSB and long 2x4 with nails but hey... a little work never hurt my hubby

We got a pickup truck load of OSB with some 2 x 4's 2 x 6's and 2 x8's.... more tomorrow. Good thing we have a 4000 sqft barn.... that is getting full

I think I might can build some more coops..... hubby didn't YELL when I said we could build some coops with it

It was my find so I get to use it. Going to come in VERY handy..... I need to find out where they are going to work next

Well there -- just did the brutal pre-lockdown candling :p I'd only spot-candled up till now so for a lot of eggs this was the first time I'd looked at them. Quite a few clears, only two that looked to have started development and then quit - which means that except for the two quitters, everything that developed at ALL made it to lockdown in the new 'bator. This pleases me :) My turkey eggs that suffered through the styrofoam 'bator didn't make it. This makes me very sad :-(

I kept a couple of things in even though I know it's a forlorn hope... RedBrushFarm, EVERY white something -- silkie, I think! -- is developing great. The two marked splash, POUT! But I left 'em in just in case :)

So the ranks have been thinned and the only thing remaining is to transfer 'em to the hatching racks. I decided I didn't want to mess with switching them to a hatching incubator, so I just built hatching racks instead :) My lone duck egg is supposed to hatch Sunday morning, which technically is when everything else should go into lockdown, so I wanted to do the "full" candle now so switch-over can be a five minute process on Sunday.

Three to lockdown, Sah! One cracked in shipping, one didn't develop, one was lost to a candling tragedy... I don't candle with the cats inside anymore. In fact, I seem to have finally broken my candling obsession. These days it's check, check, check, clear, check, and done. Embryos are fascinating but what I want are CHICKIES!!!!

I'm glad to hear it!! I mean I am sorry about the three, but hopefully the three in LD will all hatch and be two hens and one roo :D best case scenario optimist here!

Me too! :) If it weren't for the tragedy (which also claimed the lived of two coronation sussex) it would've been 4 out of 6 -- VERY respectable! :) And even so I'm pleased -- or will be once they're out of the shell!

Quote: I haven't read through the rest of the thread, so I don't know if this has been cleared up. I've been a payroll manager in a government office for the last 30 years. The value of the premium, based on age over 50K per year is considered taxable income. However, it doesn't usually amount to much. For my employees, only the dept. heads get over 50k, they get 60K. Some people, it amounts to increasing their income by a few dollars, the highest I have is $127.40. This is for my two people 70+ years old. Keep in mind, this is not tax, but taxable income. It probably only increase their tax around $10-20.

For it to cost you $400, you would have to get multi-million dollar coverage or it would have to be VERY high and you VERY old, LOL.
