Got home from Kraftyladies today. Thanks for having us over! Just got the chickens settled now I am on a hunt for a salmon Faverolle rooster!

LOL! And hey Sah, did I tell you? All three BB eggs hatched! They're such cute little things. I LOVE Brahmas! Although I have to admit the cochins are awful cute too. And my lone serama. And oh my gosh! How come no one ever told me silkie babies are that adorable???

It's going to be cold the rest of this week. it's only supposed to be 29 for the high today. where is that smiley brrrrrrrrr icon? the one with the shivering and scarf wrapped around it.

Yeah, it is 1:00 in the afternoon and finally up to 26-28 up here. I am going to cut and make a bunch of new waterers instead of cleaning and knocking out ice. It takes about 4 hrs to do them all as everyone is in pens, runs, or sort/grow bins. But it is beautiful and not raining with sun peeking out now and again! I am shivering thinking about it. If I ever were to get a lottery pick I would have a farm down south and become a snow-bird packing animals south and back north with me. Migration makes so much sense. k/

I was glad to see there are a few of you with later hatches... I set mine late on the 11th and had my first pip this morning, no others yet, but I can see it breathing in there, so I am kind of going crazy and nervous waiting for the others to start, I hope they are ok.... If I sound like a first-timer incubating my own eggs, I am!! ACK!!! Always used broody hens in the past....

Speaking of... a bantam cochin went broody a few days ago... WTH??? It's freaking -4 outside??? I brought her over to my house to put in the brooder in the garage tonite (she's in a dog crate, so she was easy to move during the day) I hope she can hatch out a couple at least.. I love watching broody hens take care of their chicks, soo cute!!

Oh, ugh!!! Okay, admittedly you have a TON more birds than I do, but four hours??? I have 5 gallon buckets with 3-4 water nipples installed in the bottom of each one. Every morning I take out fresh-filled buckets, bring the frozen ones in, stack 'em in the downstairs bathtub and voila! Next morning, rinse and repeat. I suspect you have too many pens to do that with

I kept willing for someone to put up a LGD puppy on the backwards swap. You don't want to know what I was offering for THAT if it came up, he's at work right now so I guess I could say and he wouldn't know I was trying to trade him for a real dog (I have rotten little terriers). Levi has extreme snuggle factor!!!
