I likely wont offer dewlap eggs. hey lay very few a year, and are harder to hatch than other goose eggs and dont ship well at all.

Well then I will have to start saving my pennies!!!!

50/50? Really? I think it's more like 75/25. At least for me. Boys, boys, boys. Another hatch of CCLs yesterday and I got 6 boys and only 2 girls. Again. These hatches are starting to feel like a broken record.

I just had a customer contact me regarding chicks sold to her early in the fall, these were sold straight run as they were from hatched eggs. 5 of the 8 turned out to be roos. Does anyone have a "canned" response for this when they are contacted? I mean, its obviously more than 50% but I have no control over these things.

I had someone text me wanting a pullet for a roo 6 months after I sold them 3 month old birds

They were sold as straight run, but I TRIED to sex them. BUT really a 9-10 month old roo before you text me......

What kind of chickens are they?
I've been lucky and never had anyone complain... If I can't sex sex by color or comb(I vent sex quail and feather sex chicks, but I am not always right!) I make it clear that I am guessing- or have no idea. I ha someone last weekend buy A&M quail, and I find them near impossible until I catch them crowing or laying, even with vent sexing... And I vent checked them in front of the customers and said, I THINK these are right, but if it turns out I am wrong, come back, buy more, and I will discount you. That being said, I don't know what I would say to people who buy chicks as a straight run, and still call later to inform me of a bad roo/hen ratio. Maybe "I will hatch you out more and you can try again?!"

You can only feather sex if they are BREED to be FEATHER SEXED.

I vent sex waterfowl, chickens are straight run only I wont dare try and figure them out at hatch.

Found one of my buff fav hens EATING an egg today!!!! its bad enough that I'm only getting 1-2 out of six hens but seriously?!?! I had just fed them veg scraps and wheat and she's eating an egg. She got pulled immediately and is now in a kennel with a ceramic egg!

Send the eggs to Rachael and have her send back the chicks that hatch. She got 9 girls out of the 11 NJ that hatched, and we have gotten a pair or trio of almost everything she hatches! Right now I think we have 8 or 9 CL boys to 19 girls, between the two of us, but that is okay because I want a good selection to choose from.

Do you have any frizzled LF Cochins? The one Kraftyladies gave me has some really cute curly feathers growing in. They will most likely straighten out, but I so want a frizzle big cochin!!

I have 2 frizzle hens in with a smooth hen and smooth rooster. 50% 50%. Or 60/40 chance.

I also had to put the spare frizzle roo in my BBS pen. But there is a dominant roo and 12 hens in there

Can you post a pic? If the feathers come in frizz chances are it is a frizzle.
