Correct me if I'm wrong, but isn't that her breast and abdomen in the pics?  If she is molting, you would see feather loss in more parts of her body.  I would dust her with poultry dust for mites.  I would also watch to see if she is spending extra time in the nest box.  Some hens that are building a nest to start to brood pull breast feathers out to line the nest.

This was my thought too, that she is broody.

I noticed I was missing a Bantam Orp Hen. So I go look.

I found the little stinker in the nest box!!!!!

I loved my bantam Orps, so cute! I sold most of them, my last little hen was just killed by a predator. So glad you found her, and in the nest box too!

I just such a scare. I was outside checking out my birds when I noticed I was missing a Bantam Orp Hen. She was no where in the pen. I started freaking out! Only place for her to be was the coop which the feeder is in there but usually more then one will be in there eating. So I go look.

I think only one of mine ever went broody, but they are pretty bad at laying too.

I've been a lurker/stalker for a while now. I'm just starting to incubate for the first time with some quail in the incubator. I just have the one incubator at this time, however, I was wondering would you guys incubate all the eggs? Like I'd love to swap, however I'd have to plan on receiving the eggs all at the same time when the incubator is freed up. I'm assuming you guys have more than one incubator? Incubator and hatchers? Staggered hatching? I'm just curious. Thanks! Brad

Welcome! It's addicting!

So far I've been able to coordinate my swaps so that they come at the right time, I only have one incubator. The ones in it now are due to hatch Feb 2-3, and my next swaps should ship on Feb 4. So far, so good!

its her neck too, and her wings, even on her back if I pull up the top layer. If I pull out her wing, i can see thru it practically. If it were broodyness, wouldnt she be in the nest box?? Her feathers are "falling" out when i handle her. ... there are all little spikey feather ends on her skin... is that the feathers growing back in? or is that what is left from falling out?

So...frostbite. My poor rooster has it pretty bad on his wattles and a little on his comb. My blue Andalusian has a few spots on her comb. I have read time and again to put Vaseline on as a preventative and treatment. Is there anything else I should do for them? The Vaseline turned black over night, but I think that it's dirt not more frost bite. There combs are much more flexible now, if that makes sense? Everyone else seems fine, but these two have the largest combs and wattles.
