Hatching Eggs / Paypal CHAT Thread

Woohoo! My husband brought home a five gallon bucket of spent grains from a guy he works with that brews his own beer!! One more thing to cut down food costs! Between that, free ranging, and fodder... I think I can get my food cost down to $20 a month. At least, until the 79 quail eggs I have in the Bator hatch next week... Then I'll be up to like $70 a month. Luckily, quail seem to LOVE fodder, and once they feather out they will be getting that.

My first bantam chocolate orpington egg!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

YAY, I have some of those coming.

I have tried coaxing them out

I coax them by tapping on the incubator with my fingernail. It always seems to kick them into overdrive!

I have egg news too!

Yesterday I went out to my lemon cuckoo pen. There were 2 eggs in it. Right now I have my gold laced cochin pair and my adult tolbunt roo in there, since lc's were't laying yet. Anyway, yesterday when I saw 2 eggs, I thought maybe I forgot to grab the cochin egg out of there the day before. Hmmm... Anyway today I saw the cochin lay her egg, and grabbed it a bit later. Then just now I went out there checking on everyone and found another egg!!! Finally!!!

Now I have to find room for the roo and the cochin pair.... I really need to get busy!
YAY, I need to have some of those coming!

I got the last pen wormed today, then spent the rest of the day sorting chickens. I identified about half of the birds going to the show next weekend and sorted out about 15 more roos for Camp Kenmore.

That freed up space so my Isbars and Legbars are no longer living together. I needed to separate them, the girls are starting to redden and squat for the boys.

My office looks like an atom bomb went off in it today/ Moved all of the bators to the third story once and for all. Along with the 48 hour brooder. Now I have to put everything away in the office finally. (only took me three years to come up with this move and re-organisation of the office)

Okay, anyone interested in a side swap for soaps/candles? I finally wrote out my want list... lol.
Definitely need: white showgirls, more MF leghorns, , lav maran, silkied seramas, and scovies (something other than black/white), peafowl eggs, SQ call ducks, sebastopol geese.
I want, but believe I have some coming in the spring: Paint silkies (bearded, vaulted skulls), white bresse, lav Ameraucanas and maybe birchen marans (blues maybe?)

If anyone is interested in a side swap, please let me know!

Okay, updating this, now that I have all of my swaps figured out!

Definitely still need:
White showgirls
MF leghorns
Lav marans
Silkied seramas
Muscovies (something other than black/white)
Peafowl eggs
Call ducks
Sebastopol geese
Lav Ameraucanas

I am all good with white bresse, birchen marans, tolbunt polish and paint silkies (unless something happens and eggs don't hatch or something), so I won't need anymore of these

I have 6 MF leghorns coming, 6 lav ameraucanas, 3 peafowl, 4 call ducks and 3? Sebastopols coming, so I definitely want to get some more of those so that I can get decent breeding groups out of them. :D
