You know what? the boxes I have will be too big for the chicks from you, Amy. I guess anyway. They are the 25 chick box.

Maybe I don't want to ship baby chicks this year.... very stressful

Yes, stressful. I'm checking into the correct boxes as well as Madam. Next Mon-Tue-Wed looks like it will be between 35-45 here which is the warmest its been in awhile....let me know.

That really stinks - migraines are nasty. If a person has never had one, you can not explain it. Mine put me down for 3-4 days. I thank God they have apparently gone away. I would be happy to go the rest of my life without another one.
I have had a sinus headache for he last few days. last night I went to bed with a bag of ice on my head. so I understand, too.

Next week looks good. How old are they? And what chicks are you sending since the little guy didn't make it?

Matthews Oak Ridge Farm, Oak Ridge, MO has the best prices on boxes. If you don't see what you want, call. They will either have it, or know where to get it. They are really nice to work with and will help you get what you need.

Thank you! It does look like when purchased in "bulk" they're lower than smith. They're DIY though which I think means you purchase the filters separately and glue them in...I need to send out 3 small orders of 3-6 week old chicks (weather depending) so won't need a large number of boxes.

I'm going to need to figure out how to ship 8 black Dutch bantam chicks this spring. I have no idea how. I assume I will need to section off a bigger box, or find a small one?

if you are doing the DIY they supply the filters but you have to glue them in. I have ordered LOTS from Matthews.. I had found a better price from another source for chick boxes. Now have to find it as I need to order more!

I think I'm going to put a single stall together and see how they look in it. I want them to have room but not too much room.
the other thing that helps A LOT during the cold weather is shipping warmers. I always get the 72 hour shipping warmers. Those keep them toasty. I have 8 week olds and 5 3-4 week olds shipped in a 16x16x16 box. She separated them down the center and then made a condo for the little ones, lol and put shipping warmers on each side. it was WARM in there.
