Hi

My MIL is going home to die on hospice, that's what is going to happen. I am starting to get eggs. Olandsk dwarf, tolbunt, CCL so it looks right on time for Spring eggs:D or maybe even early. I may or may not be around. I might be here just to distract myself.

All my chickens are set up it only took me 45min to do all the chicken chores today. :D

Thank you for all your concerns and well wishes.

big huge hugs.

If her MIL is capable, gether up and moving as much as possible, and keep up with DEEP breaths every hour. It sounds stupid when you're in the hospital, but it helps your lungs a LOT. Get a fever or something not lung related that knocks you down for a day and you'll notice the effect laying around has on your lungs, even if you're otherwise very healthy. Hopefully they can pull her out of "hospice".
She had a major stroke on Monday which left her almost completely paralyzed. She cannot get up.

she recovers at home

Thats awful your neighbors couldnt just come talk to you.

I am hoping to ship your combined box Monday or Tuesday since temps look to be good this next week.
Is that the box that is coming to me, or is it going to MI? It really doesn't matter too much, I just need to be aware of any boxes being sent to me so I can plan my week.

So I had a chick hatch a couple of days ago that has a slipped achilles tendon. I tried the chick walker thing and he/she HATED it. kept flipping out if it and constantly conplaining once I strapped her in so that she couldn't get out. and I was having trouble getting her to eat and drink.

But I am so pleased with myself...I made a contraption out of whittled down popsicle sticks that I taped on either side of her hock to keep the tendon where it needed to be and not slip to the side and it's working!!! she can bend her leg and is starting to learn to use her muscles like normal!!!!

I would think the spent grains couldn't hurt, but don't know for sure.
Fermenting feed starts the breakdown process so more nutrients are absorbed in digestion. It also raises the protein levels.

I feed my entire flock fermented feeds (brewer's grain and layer mash). I have cornish cross breeding hens and a roo, leghorns, ameraucanas (well, I guess they're "off color ameraucanas/EE's?!), and turkeys and ducks, and they all do fine on it.
