So, I have a problem. My neighbor is stalking me. He has some personal issues with us that I don't understand. It is a long and terrible story involving the entire city staff, police chief and Hate Crimes. I have never seen anything like it! His wife actually called the police and told them I was pointing demons at them and cursing them. He tells the city staff that his concerns about about my chickens and turkey's, but then in three sessions of mediation he has yet to bring it up. He brought up how we trim our trees, bothersome christmas lights, which side of the street we walk our dogs on and our weeding of the hosta bed.

But the problem I have is that he is using the internet to gain information about me. He has copies of posts that I have made online and is using them to create a case against me; particularly those that are posted on here. Do you have any ideas how this is possible? He has lists of everything I have written on Backyard Chickens. Is there anything I can do? I doubt he is particularly interested in chicken forums, so how did he find it? He is a community service officer, BTW. He also stalks my craigslist postings and flags them. Does anyone know of legal ramifications and steps I can take to increase my online security at this point? At the time he started stalking my posts, I didn't even have my name or any pictures listed?

There is an internet crimes division in each state. Also a Federal one. What he is doing, is stalking. I thought they made strict laws against stalking of any kind after the OJ Simpson thing. Anyway, you should file an order against him. Protection and Cease and desist come to mind, as well as a Potential for abuse order. I cannot think of the actual name for it at this time. Call legal aid, they may know what the name is, or your Attorney. I am a bit crazy, but I might invest into a camera for my yard and home. If he is going that far, how long will it be before he is sneaking onto your property for pictures/etc. Also, put up Beware of dog signs, and no trespassing signs. They need to be right up against your home but still in plain sight of the road/driveway. That way if he is bitten or comes onto your property you are protected.

Yup, 13 of those buggers. One didn't make it. Talk about forcing me to move some chicks around. I was expecting maybe 8, you know 6+ but not 13 total chicks.

What a POS! Jeez. I am a live an let live type of person, so I really just don't understand why people are so meddlesome.

Unfortunately, what you post on the Internet is fair game, to anyone, anytime. It can be used against you, in any context or out of context. Doesn't matter. Basically you can only watch what you are posting, by avoiding anything that might be able to help his case or be twisted in anyway. Steps you can take to protect your privacy: do not list your location or name or phone number or email on any site. For example, Craigslist allows you to have an anonymous email, even though most people list an additional contact information. Make an email just to make postings, change screen names and don't reveal what changes you made. It's not hard to put posts, and advertisements to a person if you are trying.

I don't get it. I don't know why people waste their time to act this way.

I think he just angry and bitter and doesn't have a life. He sits with his binoculars and watches our yard day and night looking to add to the dozens of calls to the city. They have yet to cite us for any of them, though I think the code enforcement officer spends as much time at my house as I do.

I made one post on BYC asking MN people to submit pro-chicken info to the city council and stating that I believe he had person issues with me; nothing else derogatory. He has tried to make a claim of defamation of character even though I have never listed his name, address or any identifying information at all. How can you defame an unnamed person? I just want to know how a chicken-hating individual came to develop such a keen interest in a chicken forum? He seems to think that I can be bullied even after 5 years of evidence to the contrary. I will continue to be polite and respectful while protecting my property rights.

That is good advice for Craigslist. I will do that now.

I just unpacked my GFF chicks and I was shocked when I took the lid off the box. 1 blue columbian Brahma and 13 Partridge Barthuhners.

Yup, 13 of those buggers. One didn't make it. Talk about forcing me to move some chicks around. I was expecting maybe 8, you know 6+ but not 13 total chicks.

You can send any extras my way. I'll happily add them to all the miscellaeous little feathery creatures I have running, hatching, incubator.

Congrats by the way on an excellent change of establishing a good breeding flock.

You need to talk with police and legal services, immediately.
