So much to catch up on!

I think one of the reasons I have three dogs is because I hate being alone in the house. With three dogs there is always noise and confusion!

My impacted crop chick is looking alot better. Now the crop just feels like it is filled with gravel

I think that is better then the staw that was in there though.


I am already starting to pack for my trip. Three weeks to go! I had my aunt clear room in her garage so I can set up an area for chicks. Older chickens will be going into a pen out at the barn. I will have some transport cages, but if I am moving chicks for you please have a box or cage just in case I need it! I drive a truck, older chicks, and adults will go in the bed of the truck. Young chicks will go in the cab. Please plan on including a heat pack if chicks are young enough to need them. I will not have any with me. If anybody has any tips for me traveling with all these chickens I am open to them! Should be fun!

My GFF chicks are lost yet again. They are probably burried under the 8+ inches of snow we've gotten since 7 am this morning. I give up. Every box of GFF chicks gets here late with high losses. The chicks were supposed to have shipped Tuesday but didn't get shipped until yesterday. I can't believe GFF didn't know about the impending storm. I'm snowed in. There is no way the PO is going to be able to deliver anything today. I guess I'm just not mean't to have fancy chickens.

OH no!!! That's awful. Boy, JC gets extras and CJ gets lost chicks... this just doesn't seem fair, somehow!

I have had dozens of conversations with the police. They have been protecting him because he is a community service officer. I have recently filed a Hate and Bias Crime case with the city. Who else do you suggest I speak with?

I would go directly to legal aide or your local district attorney with documented information of his acts. If that doesn't get any results, contact your mayor or other city officials tell them you haven't received any help and are desperate and will need to go to the news media for relief if something doesn't happen. No politician wants bad press and all news media LOVE it. Just use this as a last resort because it can cause lasting repercussions, but if what you say is true, this man could pose a danger to you and your children. Don't take the chance.

That is terrible. Is there anyone that lives near or works at the PO that could take care of them for a day or so if you let them know? This of course is conditional upon them actually getting delivered. I know that our PO would at least heat, feed, water them to keep them alive if you give them permission to do so. It made national news a couple of weeks ago in New York when a box of chicks was misdelivered. I would call the post office.

I will add the district attorney to my list of people....though the city attorney has been involved in some questionable decisions regarding this. Are they different?

I did try the media... the city staff got involved ad asked them not to run the story. It wasn't even about the neighbor at all, it was about urban farming. How does this even happen in the US?

Have had the mayor out to my house...no progress. This guy has a lot of power because of his association with the police department. The city staff has become part of the problem.

Thanks for the advice...I have a list started of good ideas. I am just sick of the patient, reasonable nice guy approach.

I am not even sure where to start.  The city police have not been helpful or aggressive.  In fact they keep making it worse by talking to him and giving him info. I did get some suggestions (thanks!), any others would be appreciated as well.

So sorry this is happening to you.

Here is what I would do.

First send a letter documenting anything you have proof of. I.e. anytime documented claims he has made and then not followed through with. Any calls made that you had someone in authority visit. All complaints must be documented or visits should not be allowed. Anything you can prove that he has did to cause you harm, embarrassment, or fearful.

Then you explain how this is disrupting your rites to live peacefully without fear of harassment. Your neighbor tracking you to BYC is an example. If he has printed off things you have typed it will go a long way to showing his intent. Now anything put on BYC is outside of privacy laws; however, the fact that he has sought out this information shows he is going beyond the norm. Your adds getting flagged on CL could be anyone. CL claims that it takes a lot of flags to have an add removed, but that's a load of manure. Of course they will never tell you who is flagging your adds. Unless you can get him to admit he flags them routinely there is no recourse.

Thirdly demand that all harassment cease immediately. Explain that unless you have a written statement from the city explaining why they need to meet with you. You will be left to believe that they are parties in the harassment and will be named as such in a law suit.

I would admit no one without the letter. If they show up at your door give them a copy of the letter and request everything in writing. If they feel the need to talk to your neighbor that is fine, but everything said pertaining to you must be written down and included in any further complaints.

Being polite is only going to allow them to push you around. Once they realize they can't push you around anymore they will find someone else to try it with. Cameras are highly recommended and in this case I would say mandatory. I would consider it an investment into my sanity.
