Have you ever tried a nipple type device with ducks? Everyone says they have to submerge their nostrils, but I've never had a problem with brooder ducks. I imagine if they're out burying their snoots in dirt, they'd need to clean them out, but for just days of shake down, they'd be fine.

I'm pretty sure ducks can get really sick if they can't clean their noses. Mine got crap all over the beaks.

But my forays into nipples was unsussesful so um not an expert.

I can understand that they shouldn't be on nipples 24/7, but I was hoping to use them for when everyone is on lock down and can't go out.

Betta, mine are when it's not winter. In winter, they freeze up too easily, which is a bummer, but the rest of the year I just hang 5 gallon buckets with nipples in the bottom and they seem to do great with it. Gotta read back and see what the objection was!

I still have to get pics of the four fluffypuffs I hatched from your NYD eggs :)

Oh -- ducks. Okay, I don't have ducks (yet...) so I have no idea about the nipples with them! I't's my understanding that yes, they need to duck their beaks into water but I'm sure no expert :p

Hi again, my 3 month wait ended yesterday :)
Now if only Mr Buckeye would cooperate I will have some really nice eggs to swap
(The Trio hasn't settled in yet, the weather has been *dreadful* since they arrived, multiple ice storms, tornado warnings, 70mph winds on other days, hardly any sun, can't blame them, in fact come the think of it, wow, maybe *I* should move.... _)

Meanwhile, I'm working on my swap page -- it isn't done, just a basic start, but if any of you have a moment I'd love some feedback on it,
is it clear? can you tell what I have to offer & what I'm looking for etc. , anything I should change before I load any more pics...?

I'm getting Isbar eggs - If they hatch, maybe we can do some exchanging at some point..... I also have two pair or rhodebars!! They are not laying yet but I luv them anyway! I hatched the cutest fluffy puffs from WV. One is yellow with brown stripes. My husband calls them racing stripes as it is ALWAYS going somewhere in a big hurry.

LOL! I'm still waiting on my BIG fluffypuffs -- although I do have four turkey eggs in the incubator! Hmmm, maybe I should candle 'em. COngrats on the rhodies! I have to admit, I think they're awfully pretty. And absolutely on the isbars! We'll do some "fresh blood" swap-arounds. Mine have a few months before they're laying, I'd say. Probably May. Maybe :p
