I need help: Please any goat people on here I have an emergency- I went out to the coop this morning and my youngest goat a Saneen has a swollen head and snot coming from her nose, She is laying down and won't get up. She was just fine last night up and running around. I bedded them down in new pine shavings last night. They do eat some for some reason, but I don't think this is the cause. Please advise on what it could be and what I can do. I do have penacillin on hand, I tried to call the bet but they aren't open.

Google goat911 and find someone in your area that can help

That's a helpful group of non-vet but experienced folk. What you have is not something I'm familiar with, so I can't help. Good luck.

I keep reading your description and thinking.......allergic reaction? Might be.

I just got my egg shipment form Little Ameraucana Mom. The box (and the eggs) was in perfect shape - no smushed corners or dings. No damage at all! Good job, post office!
It might have had something to do with what was on the top of the box:

Glad they arrived safely. After talking with may post office workers, this is what they told me would work best. PICTURES. It would get everyone attention. they said if you just write fragile they just get thrown in the bag with all the others. I have lots of different pictures, I've used others, but this is the one I use now.

Question Guys for you genetic wiz's: If I put a Exchequer Leghorn Male over My Female White Leghorns will I get a 50/50 or even any Exchequer at all.

NO. They will be kinda like splits. BUT all the chicks will be Dominate white. You would need to keep breeding the spits to the exchequers to get the color back and cull the whites after that. I did that project last year with a friend that Exchequers. We did it to try to improve egg size and production. I have one pullet from that cross that is laying, still a small egg but she is laying every day so far. I have more from that cross an some Exchequer chicks I need to go pick up so I can work on that project some more. LOVE the Exchequers.

Someone said that they have the dominant white gene, and so the answer is, not the first generation. The first generation they would all be white, with leakage of black. The mottled gene needs 2 copies to present so you used a different color it would still take 2 generations.

Please someone correct me if I am wrong. I am still learning,

That is right!

Ok, thanks guys for the links, I have been reading them. I got a hold of a friend who gave me a number to there vet. I am awaiting a call back they will give me consult over the phone to try and help with this situation.
