Do you ever have one of those d'oh moments?? Here I've been wishing I had some purebreed eggs to offer, and it finally occured to me that there are 4 RIR hens in my layer flock, and I have a RIR Roo living with my goats who has no ladies. Sheesh... Now I just need to decide how worth breeding they are.

OK, you guys have me thinking I may need to add a turk to the flock.

And if she doesn't, Sahwithchicks is putting together a tutorial on How to Really Fill an Incubator. Or, so I heard, anyway. :)

Have heard of placing them upright in a cup to keep the legs under them and get them exercising them to get control of them. Haven't had a chance to try it myself. Have had good success with hobbles and shoes for various foot/leg issues here and there, though.

More experianced hatchers than me: I've got about 1/3 of the 39 eggs hatched so far and the humidity in the circulated air hova is up to 77%. No plugs in. Should I open and try to get the humifity down a bit? I wouldn't mind pulling a few chicks out at the same time. I have pips currently too.
