. Are you within driving distance of your state diagnostic center? If you are and can do it, get a necropsy done so you know what you were trying to deal with. Ours charges minimal fees for diagnostic necropsies.

2x when I lived in NC 10 yrs ago there was a 24/7 drop off at a meat locker at the ag center you filled out a form to tag the carcass & they sent you a report & invoice for like $25 in just a few days.


Also, yes I have found that dairy goats can be tricky that way, they can be so stoic you don't even see any problem just fine then dead or fine then acting a little off then a few hrs later while you are still trying to figure out if you imagined them acting odd suddenly dead, it is like there is no middle ground on goats it is either super robust healthy or zero goat : (

i AM SORRY BUT i DON'T know where else to put this but I HAVE A BABY CHICK IN AN EGG!!!!
It's the very first egg ever that I have purposfully tried to "help" hatch!!

I got some Cochins the other day and one hen had layed two eggs one of which my loving daughter broke-but I digress- I still had the other one under my broody. I almost threw it out yesterday because everytime I looked I couldn't see a thing and yesterday it looked like pure black shadow so I figured it got scrambled during shipping. No great loss because I wasn't expecting it, they turned out to be bantams(which at the time I didn't want) and also I was putting it under my broody just so she wouldn't get off the nest as I don't have fertile eggs as of yet. But I left it anyway just to see what would happen, I figured if it got stinky she would push it out of the nest. So tonight as I was putting everyone to bed just for ***** and giggles I used my new flashlight on it. At first the same dark shadow but then I moved it just in that perfect spot and stopped

DANCING BABY!!! It was bouncing bouncing that is sooooooooooooooo cool!! OMG I can not believe I am this happy about a bantam baby!!! I put it under her last Friday the 22. I can't wait!!!

Sew..... I moved a little roo for us today.....I have a WL x Exchequer pullet and she needed a roo so she got a CCL

She is laying pretty regularly and he is mounting pullets so we will see. Half the chicks would be white and half some kinda color but they should all be BARRED and blue egg layers I think. I will start collecting next week and see if they develop.

Just got home and we heard chirp chirp chirp! We have baby turkeys hatching! They aren't due until Monday, but those little midgets do that to me sometimes.

Yeah, baby turkeys! We counted 3 pips. Can't even remember how many are in there and I don't care. I'm gonna have baby turkeys!

mine pipped 2 days early too, as it stands I have 6 rp x gn and 4 rp's and 4 eggs left to go,

have lost two so far and I think I am going to lose one more

also have 1 "wheaten marans" (its blue) born with no eyes...is there a way to cull it, before it slowly starves to death?
