SBEL's from Kraftyladies are hatching!

Received 8 eggs, 6 made it to lockdown, two have hatched, one is zipping and the other three are not doing anything yet. Come on babies hurry up!! I hate waiting! I do have a question though what color are the SBEL chicks? For some reason I was expecting yellow.... These are black. Do all SBEL's grow out to be white with a little black or can they just be any color?

my SBEL are white with spots of color (lav like color) but its from the Lav AM roo over the white leghorn girls

I've got two eggs pipped and partially zipped...for two days now. I've had to open the bator and remove the other chicks...and draped both eggs in wet paper towels when I did so. The chicks are still peeping, but progress was not made from last night until this morning. Intervene? Leave them alone? WWBYCD?

I would be checking them out after that much stalling
I did. Both were glued at the zipped area, although were moist elsewhere. They are both out now, kicking and screaming. I'll probably have to wash them, but they need some kicking and screaming to get their blood moving first. Thanks! I would likely have been afraid to try without the nudge. But no blood in the membranes at all, so they needed to get out!

I have found if they zip all the way and dont kick out they are stuck. Glad you got them out, even if it means a chick bath later lol

They weren't all the way...one was half way and the second maybe a third. But no progress since probably yesterday morning. I'm lucky they didn't die of exhaustion! But as soon as they dry a bit, I'll get them to water, then food. I wonder why they stuck. Humidity was 60-62, and nine others had no problem. Guess I'll never know!

Wow. I just assessed my egg status. After this week, all my chicken eggs will be here for spring. All my claims from krafty have been arranged with her for fall delivery. I'll also have all my chicks in this week (Whitmore farms chicks coming in!). And I'll have button quail this week! All that will be left will be one claim of turkey eggs and a buncha coturnix! I will be ready for NPIP testing!

My thanks for those who tried their best to help arrange my eggs around this planned testing! Not everyone was able to due to birds not laying, but still, people tried. You guys are so awesome!
