Hatching Eggs / Paypal CHAT Thread

I have a question for anyone that has Rhodebars or has hatched them. I won an auction of rarebreeds for these. When the eggs came in they were in varying shades of cream to tan, but also had some with matte finish and some with glossy. Now I can understand the varying colors but finish? Did I get Rhodebar, or is there something else in the mix?

I don't know about Rhodebars, but some of my Basque hens produce a lot more bloom and it makes the eggs very shiny. It is a known thing with the Basque eggs though. Maybe it is the same with the Rhodebars.

Are you planning on hatching the eggs? If you are going to eat them, don't worry. If you are going to hatch and you want to keep away from too large crests and vaulted skulls I would take the crested roo over non-crested girls and non-crested over crested as KYT has done. That way you don't double up on the crests.

I have a decision to make now. It looks like I have blue and black double laced barnies. Now I love how the blues look but you all know how much I love black birds. Those black barnies are gorgeous!!!!

Hopefully you are fine, at least they are cream to tan, so many are being sold as green or blue and have been definitely mixed.

Some think a Legbar got into the mix especially after seeing a picture of a Rhodebar with a crest.

Hubby is gone for two weeks at a time, and what he don't know won't hurt me... :lau

Oh, but mine likes to do face time and then ask questions. He knows to well we try funny things when he's gone. Think he's home on Thursday, so I better get the broody hen out by then.

You can send the blues to me. Barnies are on my sons list.

We will be hatching, and possibly swapping so separation it is. Crud. It's too cold to work out side right now.
