everybody! I'm just reading a bit on the thread for fun -- there's no WAY I can possibly catch up! Sheesh, over a thousand posts since I last ducked my head in -- have I really been MIA that long? Didn't mean to be but it's a really simple equation: less time online = more writing done

So yeah, that's where I've been.

Hello, fellow chicken lovers! It's spring finally!

Please clear justhatchin for a completed side swap. Even though the the PO just about destroyed the box, her great packing job ensured I received the peafowl eggs in beautiful condition! The air cells even look good!

I have Cayuga ducklings and they were a MESS after 2 weeks inside. I moved them to the outside, wire-bottomed brooder (they are in with the chicks). I put rubber shelf liner over half the brooder and use pine pellets for bedding. I put the food and nipple waterers at the other end. Any water they sling around goes through the wire and the bedding stays dry on the other side. It has nearly eliminated the mess!!! Woot!
Pictures, PLEASE!

Two or 3 of the chicks I hatched from your eggs have vaulted skulls. Two of them have gigantic crests! They are adorable.

This is Rockstar AFTER a trim lol
Oooh, I LOVE her!

Though I could see how that large of a crest could be a problem while free-ranging. I think you got eggs from me before I removed the crested roosters. I have been going back and forth about that decision.

Believe me. Wild rabbits are NOT pets. We rescued one that was VERY young and bottle fed it for a few weeks until it could eat on its own. Even though we handled it every day to feed it for about 2 1/2 weeks, that thing would bite us from the moment it was old enough to bite, so we had to wear gloves. That thing was MEAN and was promptly release the minute it started eating on its own.
