Congratulations!!! That is GREAT!!!

I feed my SFHs an organic mash that is 18% protein, but they have bugs and greens all year in my climate.  They have been very hardy - we love them!  I have started feeding fermented feed in the past couple of weeks and they really like it.
I have Cayuga ducklings and they were a MESS after 2 weeks inside.  I moved them to the outside, wire-bottomed brooder (they are in with the chicks).  I put rubber shelf liner over half the brooder and use pine pellets for bedding.  I put the food and nipple waterers at the other end.  Any water they sling around goes through the wire and the bedding stays dry on the other side.  It has nearly eliminated the mess!!!  Woot!

I do take the ducklings out twice a day so they can splash in water and wash out their eyes and nose.  I take that time to give them brewer's yeast or a vitamin B supplement (liquid drops) to make sure they get enough niacin.  This works great for us!
Two or 3 of the chicks I hatched from your eggs have vaulted skulls.  Two of them have gigantic crests!  They are adorable. :)

This is Rockstar AFTER a trim lol

Now that's a crest! We have two girls like that. Alex calls them Phyllis one and Phyllis two as in thing one and thing two. I wouldn't let him call them "thing."

Hubby is gone for two weeks at a time, and what he don't know won't hurt me... :lau
My unsupervised period is coming to an end. No more chickie shipments for me after this week.

I'm not complaining though. I'll be thrilled to have him home.
:hugs My situation is a little different than yours, I am glad for you that he is coming home...tell him thank you from us.

I have a decision to make now. It looks like I have blue and black double laced barnies. Now I love how the blues look but you all know how much I love black birds. Those black barnies are gorgeous!!!!
I do love the iridescence on the Black ones...sometimes green sometimes purple. The sunlight hits them and it's gorgeous

you will always get some blacks and some blues If you are breeding them both together.

I love them all.
Today is the day I am killing my rooster. This whole day has dragged and I am feeling guilt now. I have been planning to do this for a long time now and haven't had a twinge the whole time, now that it is time, I am feeling bad.
hugs you.

I have a question for anyone that has Rhodebars or has hatched them.  I won an auction of rarebreeds for these.  When the eggs came in they were in varying shades of cream to tan, but also had some with matte finish and some with glossy.  Now I can understand the varying colors but finish?  Did I get Rhodebar, or is there something else in the mix?

I don't know about Rhodebars, but some of my Basque hens produce a lot more bloom and it makes the eggs very shiny.  It is a known thing with the Basque eggs though.  Maybe it is the same with the Rhodebars.

My Brassy Backs have the shiny coating

Feel free to pass them this way....lol

LOL! "Hi honey, I missed you, here's your list... Better hop to, it's a mile long!"

I suppose one advantage to having a completely useless ex husband is that I learned to do everything by myself. Of course, I can't get a deer into the back of my car alone, unless there's a tree around to make a pulley system and use the horsepower from the car, lol. I can haul 100lb feed bags, but animals that weigh more than I do? Gotta get creative there or ask for help, lol.
