My son just got the call from his doctor about his prognosis. She says that he will have to have major testing to find out what all has been affected and then brain surgery. Problem is that the testing is very complicated and time consuming and the only place she trusts to have it done is the Mayo clinic. Our insurance told her they would not cover it. Now I have to start the process of fighting to get him the care that he needs and find out what we need for justification. Everything is on hold now. Andy comes first. If we have to sell out to get him the care he needs... Whatever has to be done will be.

I would definitely call Mayo and see what they can do to help. Even though they told your doctor that they wouldn't cover it I'm sure she has past experiences with other patients that have had the same thing happen. Maybe she can give you someplace to start?

I just smashed my sons x-box 360

Nope not an April fools joke. He's not doing his homework and we took it away and put it in our closet. He keeps sneaking into the closet and stealing it back. We've done this over and over and he was warned. I was just in the back yard, looked up at his window and saw him playing a game. Went inside up to his room, unplugged X-Box, opened the window and tossed it out onto the back deck from the second story. Problem solved! :D

You sound like me! My son is only allowed 20 minutes and he's only nine, but his much older brother tried some stuff that ticked me off. When he was I think 6 I had told him to clean his room. When it didn't get done I had a dumpster put below his bedroom window and had a tossing party. Now I raised my older son by myself with dot a dime paid in child support, so there was no replacing anything. He learnt real quick. As a matter of fact I made him get a paper route and got several also making him deliver all while I drove, bagged and tagged. He was so used to doing what he was told that when he was in basic training he was a tough nut for them. Didn't matter how early or how long he just kept going. His drill sergeant told me that when asked if it was too tough for him he said "NO SIR, YOU HAVEN'T MET MY MOTHER SIR!" Another one had to come over to introduce herself because when she asked my son if he wanted his momma he said the same thing. I got a lot of compliments from them. He's now an amazing 30 year old and I know I made him into what he is today.

You are doing the best thing for your son, and being an awesome Mom. If he argues tell him I could have been his mother!

The Mayo clinic has a whole department that deals with finding ways to get around insurance. My little brother had several surgeries there and they figured ways to get them all paid. They are also a research hospital so it might be covered under one of their research grants. It will take some looking, and don't be shy in asking for help. They are good about that.

I will be praying that you can get what you need without a fight.

Thanks for the support. Sounds like you've got a great son there! I definitely was brought up a lot stricter than my kids are being brought up. DH is the softie and I'm the disciplinarian. I'm hoping DH starts to see things more my way. I was tired of it and he needed to learn that I mean what I say. His flat screen is next..... then again I'm thinking I might be able to get some really nice eggs in trade for a flat screen!

What kind of excuse are they using not to pay?????!!!!????

Some doctors write off stuff if the insurance refuses to pay...you might ask them what your options are there.

Ugh. After my swaps/purchases are all in, I think I'm seriously done for a good long while. I'm pulling far too many clear eggs. I can't justify $17 or making soaps/candles for the chance to get one chick. From all of these swaps, I have 5 turkey poults, 1 buff orp, 6 marans and one silkie. That's from a minimum of 13 swaps! I'm just not having any luck this year from shipped eggs. :(

you can justify one chick if it's a good one...my most recent shipped/hatched was from papabrooder, and he sent a bunch, almost all went into lockdown and two hatched, the rest died in shell, no pipping at all, but the two I have are totally worth it, adds to the ones I have now...maybe it's just the wrong time, too many variables, shipped, weather, incubators, techniques etc...I don't even want to get into all the marans and ameraucanas I have tried to hatch... I have heard from a lot of people that their hatches aren't what they usually are....
I also have been to auction and paid more than 30 bucks for a bird that died three days later........

Well, I found a wildlife sanctuary that would take them...and I know they have a better chance with someone who knows what they are doing, so I handed them over. but they were so cute. so I took some pictures before I gave them up. sniff, sniff. I may need to get some real bunnies in the future.
