Hatching Eggs / Paypal CHAT Thread

Gahhhh! What a week we all seem to be having! I think it's one of those friday nights we need to break out our favorite libation.

For all the folks having the AWFUL chick shipping issues: Beyond just the ususal reports and claims to the local POs, I wonder if it would be good to set a date for as many BYCers and anyone else that has had issues to all flood the Postmaster General's office with a written documented letter of their issues. A large quantity of letters in one week might make them stand up and take notice. I suspect that all of the PO workers need additional training in the care of live birds. Now as for the theft, because it sure doesn't look like anything else, that's just despiciable.

On a funny/sad note, I had a hilarious phone call about hatching eggs today. I keep an ad up on Craigslist for them all the time, it's not hard for me to have a dozen pretty quick. I had a lady call today who sounded a bit odd on the phone so I did a little questioning.... She asked me if these were the ones that if she got them would hatch later? I asked if she had her incubator ready? She replied that she had a couple of hens that often went broody. Ahha. I asked if she had one currently broody, and she said again they often liked to sit, and if she didn't take the eggs from them they probably would. I politly suggested the try the golfball trick and if they were still sitting and broody after a few days/week, she call me back for eggs, as freshness was optimal.

And to Susan/kraftyladies:

Awww..... How cute, I can't let my Cockatiel (Pearl) out when I am wrapping my eggs cause she will eat the bubble wrap and the box.  :gig

Timmy is in a cage with wide bars so he can get in and out when he wants, Sonny on the other hand should be named Houdini. She likes to let everyone else out get back in her cage and lock her door. Then when you look she will say "what" like she had nothing to do with it.

Both of them suddenly appeared upstairs and on the table when I went to the bathroom. They figure the birds outside free range, so why shouldn't they I guess.

cull if they show genetic faults. We will only rehome pet quality egg layers locally to yards we know just want the eggs (like most towns that dont permit roos)

Send that poor misunderstood grey baby here............ poor thing and its speach issue being picked on by you LOL

You really don't want to hear all the things she says. She can be really naughty. She's also super high energy, so she gets along famously with kids.

You are now a Lavender Laced Cochin?

That's just too funny!

If the feathers are stiff, like flight feathers, they won't go away and they are vulture hocks. I have ony dealt with Cochins, but I assume it is the same. I also have had Cochins sprout the hock feathers before others and tricking me to believe they have vulture hocks, but they weren't te stiff feathers, and when they filled out, it looked right. My birchen cochin roo has vulture hocks, which is why I don't breed my Cochins (until I can get a good male) but my husband likes "doodle do" so we keep him.
I do believe these are vulture hock as they stick out straight from the leg. The others have a nice soft fluffy feathers on their hocks.

Well I just heard back from RBA and they said to leave a detailed Negative Feedback and be sure to open a PP claim to get my money back.
