Yay! Got an egg from my Italian quail, so have three hens laying, once I get 10 laying a day, I will start filling my orders! In the meanwhile, I am testing fertility. Have some in the Bator on day three. Now I can test Italians too.

Flocks, I am going to have to get some of those midget turkey eggs from you. How big do they get? I am trying to decide if I want naragansetts again, or those midgets. I am assuming midgets eat less? They may win out, even if I miss naragansetts. Who on here has them?
Anyway, if I have anything you'd want? If not, I will fill my quail orders then stalk the swap for eggs

Pretty much only have BCM and Black/Blue Dutch available right now. Oh, and two am hens I use for Olive egger eggs. I have both Italian and jumbo brown coturnix quail, but have quite a few orders to fill before I can offer them for trade.
It sounds to me that midgets are friendly like the broad breasteds but better all around  my husband likes the look of royal palms... But I love the friendliness of the BB, and when we had a bunch of RP, BS, and N poults last year, the BBB where still way more friendly.

I do love pretty much all of them ;)

I say get them both Sah! Then you have better variety.

Don't tempt me! Lol, it's all I can do to get my old man to accept that I am having 6 breeding pens... I am shooting for 8, but I thin he'd REALLY start whining then! He actually really liked the turkeys, just not how much they ate...

Yup, they are exactly like my fat girl. I also raise BB and midgets for a CSA and of course become attached to their sweet love able personalities. That's why we still have Eva. She's 2 which is old for a BBW, but runs with the midgets so it keeps her healthier. We lost her sister on New Year's Eve. You can't put your hand in the brooder without them pushing each other out so they can climb in. I just love how they really really want to be near us. Even when they range they keep an eye and an ear out for us. Everyday they run down the driveway to meet my son at the end of the school day. How they know which bus he is on is beyond me. Then they escort him home for which they get lots of praise and if I have any an apple or five to fight over.

Alex loves his FBCMs. Here's one of his favorite Roos.

We could always increase our genetic pool in them.

We were going through our chick brooders the other day and found a chocolate chick that wasn't a orp- It turns out I had forgot about my little chocolate wyandotte that I hatched out- its growing out very cute! It will be a lonely chick - don't know if its a male/female yet but, its cute anyway. It will be destined for RBA one day.

The midgets aren't bad on the feed, but we free range 100% during the day. They sleep in an old camper cause they are just a twitch on the spoilt side.

Well really it's because my fat girl might get cold! She's my baby girl. Some people have dogs or cats. I have birds of all sorts, but my turkeys are my favorite of the outside (unless my hubby doesn't know then I bring some in) birds.

If it's a hen, let me know. I might have an extra roo.

Ours would be free range. Last year with the BBB and the naragansett, the BBB just didn't know how to free range, but the N did just fine. Problem was, she flew onto my husbands truck one too many times, and I never thought to clip her wings... :/
