Well we just added Bbs Orps got 6 chicks and 24 eggs. They r about 85% English. Hens are English, Roos are 75% English. 100% English would be better, but more Orps yea.
congrats!

Well I have had a good and bad few days. Good in that I help a couple of local BYC'er start their flocks back. One lost most during a tornado when a tree fell on his coop. Another's house caught fire and he lost his little chicks and had to sell his flock while they were homeless. Got both of them set up good a proper. Sent one home with 11 chicks (he only had 6) and the other I sent home with 4 1/2 doz eggs

The BAD.... my son's stupid dog has struck AGAIN! I think that makes 5 attacks and 8 dead guinea

He has told me twice he was going to get rid of them LIES both times. They will not get anymore guinea... they will be gone when they come on our property. I have warned them to keep the dog on their property or else. WHY can't he just do the right thing???? My hubby called him and my son was telling him he HATED the birds too... what did that mean? Are you just going to let your dogs pick off my 400 chickens one at a time? NOT! Hubby told him he liked the guinea he has had no ticks.... well till today LOL. Anyway... I would not let something that stupid come between me and my parents but you know I am crazy that way.

I'm up to 34 poults. I opened the incubator yesterday to move eggs to lockdown, and babies poured out! I've gone from nothing hatching to early hatching! This is strange.

Ooh, congrats on the new babies, Brookhavens and HOF! I just got home from another wild'n'crazy weekend over at CPL's (when I left, she and Heather were sorting a whole bunch of adorable mystery chicks into shipping boxes -- somebody's getting chicks this week!) and candled all the eggs I set last week. Out of OMG I don't know how many eggs (100, maybe?) I pulled ten -- three with previously unnoticed cracks, four from hens we were pretty sure weren't fertilized yet, and three clears from my barred cochin which means I'm going to have to learn how to trim fuzzybutts, eek! I know darn well the roo is doing his job (frequently and enthusiastically...) so I suspect the problem is too many feathers, lol!

Wanted to give a quick isbar update, too -- they're all doing well and seem happily settling into their new digs, although laying is still slow. I only got two eggs while I was gone, sigh, but I'm going to set them tomorrow morning for a first fertility test. I'll keep everyone updated
