My turkey hen hatched out 10 of the 12 eggs we gave her....

She has 7 calico sweet grass poults, 2 black mottled poults & 1 chocolate poult.

My male turkey has been strutting all over the yard,
like a proud papa. He is so funny.

6 of 7 SLW's from CJ went into lockdown, tomorrow is hatch day and I have 3 pips so far!!

 back home and both goslings were very anxious to get out of that box. They jumped/climbed up the side. Sooo tired and have too much to do to be ready for tomorrow.

Oh I am so glad to hear that they made it ok.

I finally got caught up at work and sat down with my iPad to catch up with this thread. As I just read the happy ending I realized that I had been clenching my jaws from the suspense of these goslings ordeal.

I'm glad you were able to convince somebody at the post office that something had to be done to save these babies.

Beautiful birds! At some point I really want to get some turkeys, but so far I've avoided buying an incubator. 5 1/2 acres and an enabling DH = way too much temptation! Instead I just lurk and drool.

COF, I'm so glad your goslings made it! Mary Ruth, thanks so much for the turkey pics -- those were wonderful

I can't wait for turkeys! (How old do turkeys have to be before you can sex them on appearance? Any hints?)

And flocksalot, this just cracked me up:

Oh my lord! My neighbor down he road just called to tell me my geese are down there, still on our property, sassing him as he went to get his mail! Now I have to go out in the cold rain to tell George, the gander, to go home. My neighbor doesn't believe me that it will work. He's scared of them and thinks they might come across the road to his property. Those panty waists won't cross a busy highway. Scared of a goose. How funny. Chase em and see how quickly they stay to fight. Thankfully my other neighbors aren't such babies. But then the stupid goose shouldn't be that far away any way.

Ok he called back to say he told George to go home and he and the girls are on their way back. My neighbor was shocked it worked. Better go make sure they get back off the hay field though.

n a good note - I have fulfilled my 7 probationary swaps.. I am FREEEEEE!

Its a good feeling - and a sort of scary feeling - like somebody just took off my leash and said "go play".. Now I have to hold myself back.

Watch out, ChickNmamma -- I got off probation and spent 500 bucks on eggs!!! EEK!

Morning all... thanks for the well wishes. Major hope your jaw feels better, I know my head does after yesterdays events.

In good news I have been on the phone with all sorts of USPS people and yelled at enough of them about the dozens of misplaced, lost, abused boxes of lives resulting in deaths they are promising a over haul in Memphis (we will see) and I offered to help consult on ways to maintaain speediness and proper handling of animal packages and reminded them they could face animal cruelty chanrges if it doesnt get fixed.

So if anyone has a horror story live bird shipment from January until current (box went missing, was opened, birds missing, dead birds) send me a PM with your DC number and name as I will be on the phone on Monday again, and they want to know about the other cases.
