Flocks, how many eggs do you usually get from Eva? My BBW hen has laid MAYBE a dozen eggs and hasn't looked back since maybe January. If she isn't going to lay anymore eggs this year, I think I'm going to butcher her. She's nasty to the poults and basically anyone else who gets near where she's eating and she EATS!

Well hubby and son just brought the ducks and geese back in the house. Adopted momma is sitting outside with her mates screaming their heads off about it. He's afraid it's going o get too old for them tonight as its supposed to get down to 32 tonight and tomorrow. He's adamant that the geese aren't taking good enough care of his goose! So they are now in with yesterday's hatch of duck and goose. My hubby really likes his goose I think. Wonder what he's gonna name it?
400

I think there is a bit of a size difference don't you? It's cute when the ducks all pile on the big goose.

Official CCL Hatch total: 6 live hens, 2 in shell dead hen, 1 white legbar chick(unsexed at this time), 1 rooster and 2 quitters!!!

Success!!!!!
In my first batch of CCL I hatched a pair of whites. I kept them both and they run with my Creams. So of course now, I hatch a fairly good number of the whites. I think they are beautiful with their crests and the lovely HUGE blue eggs.

Well currently Eva is very broody! So no eggs coming out of her, but she keeps squishing them and wearing them. Last year she laid from the previous years June until June or July and then she went into a molt. BBWs generally lay really well. We got an egg a day from both her and Gracie. They had a heat lamp to keep their water from freezing and lived in our greenhouse over the winter, so they got plenty of light and warmth. We had to open the door on one end on sunny days so they didn't cook. Eva was kind of nasty to the poults last year and may have been the one that hurt Harvey. Though I'm more inclined to believe it was Frodo as she was the nastiest turkey I ever raised. She can still bully, but for the most part the midgets are ow her flock. She's currently sharing closet space, that's her nest box, with another broody. Eva laid at least 65 to 70 eggs before he went broody this year.

How old is your girl? Is she getting stressed? The move may have been enough to throw her off. Is she molting? And how hungry are you? Those girls can be quite big, so you may need an army to eat her. What times dinner?

She'll be a year in June. She might be doing a slow moult, but good gravy. I see a few pin feathers on her, but nothing like the ducks and chickens. They dropped everything and grew new. It's just discouraging, since we moved two months ago, she stopped laying before we moved and I really want some more eggs from her. I still owe someone turk eggs and haven't seen squat. Okay, well, she was squatting last week... We were planting the trees and she decided to squat RIGHT where we were working and have turkey sex. We had to wait 15 minutes for them to get it done and GET before we could finish. Hopefully that's a good sign that she'll be laying again.

That's a very good sign. The hens won't squat unless hey are in mating season and condition. You'll get one eggs soon.

Darn I had a taste for turkey too. LOL

Man I hate auto correct sometimes. You'll get SOME eggs soon.
