yes, exactly what it's suppose to be. No hard feathers at all. Cull hard since there are some out there who have no issue breeding vulture hocks even though it's a DQ for showing.

Thank you. I assume this is for anything that is on the actual legs below the body. I need to check my Cochins. I am pretty sure I remember seeing a couple of odd looking feathers but with all that fluff, I could be mistaken. Those babies have LOTS of feathers on their feet.

Since I am just starting with calico cochin bantams would someone give me the definition of vulture hocks because I want to make sure my breeders on my cochins (which are very heavily feathered) do not have this. Or instead of a definition a reference as to where to find it would work. TIA

With bantam Cochins, you do not want to cull now. No clue on Brahmas, but with bantam Cochins, wait. The feathers should be soft, but can be long. You just don't want hard feathers.

Thank you. So they can be long and appear like feathers but as long as there is no hard shaft you are OK. I didn't realize how heavily feathered the feet could be until I had these as my Faverolles and Light Brahmas are nothing like these. Beautiful coloring on the second one by the way.

Thankfully the wire is small enough that it could only grab feathers. I would have been terribly upset to lose him. He is so darned calm! He WAS quite beautiful too, but now he looks funny with his few remaining tail feathers lol! It really would be a good idea to have a backup, but I think it's already getting too hot here to ship lives. I think the highs by the end of this week will be in the upper 80s.

I ment no disrespect guys. I'm like the least patient person I know. I've harassed people that we me eggs. I know how worrisome it can be. You've already sent out eggs or PayPal and are waiting for your swap to be fulfilled. I edit that. I see t out my Midget eggs that I could have raised and sold, or sold as eggs for more money than the $17 of PayPal. My hubbies was not too happy when I stopped taking orders to swap, but you all have breeds my son would like, so swap or PayPal I must. He don't get it, but that's just him.

No if eggs were being sold instead of fulfilling my swaps I wouldn't feel real happy about that and if I were then told they wouldno longer be available I would have a very bummed child chicken loving wanna be breeder on my hands. So no disrespect. Lets all take a deep breath and go hug a turkey. Well I will anyway.
