This is about the current offer of the jumbo quail I will claim for $15 if someone can wait for the $15 till friday,
Nevermind they changed the offer

I was looking at having some chicks shipped, but they wanted $60 in shipping for 4 chicks. I thought that was pretty high, but if you could express for $25 then they are more than double that! I had never looked at actual cost, so that is good to know.

I think shipping only 4 chicks is risky, they need more for body heat. I had really wanted to send 10 Serama but only 7 hatched.

Chick/chicken shipping is insane what they try to charge. You do only get the discounted express mail price if you buy online vs, the PO but it's 1/3 to 1/2 off.

I got banned from an auction site from bidding on one person's auctions simply because I questioned why they wanted $65 to send me a box of chicks 400 miles when I knew the cost was 17.55 plus box. I have found most people set a price for the furthest zone from them plus some but if you ask them before hand they are usually willing to let you pay the actual shipping cost if you are closer.

The person that banned me said they didn't have to justify their shipping prices to me, I guess I don't need their chicks anyway. ;)

I guess I just don't get what the big deal is. The way I see it I don't always want what everyone puts up, but that is no reason to get upset. Not everyone is gonna like everyone's offer. I don't see a problem with any eggs or even chicks being offered. Simply if you don't like what someone is offering just don't claim it don't complain about it.

I don't see a problem with people offering chicks like I said if someone don't want the offer they don't have to claim it. Just my opionon.

I would gladly take a chance with shipping chicks, i sure have not had much luck with shipped eggs lately....If someone wants to offer chicks . I will claim them, then post pics of the arrival.....
Just my opinion, but even if they do not make it, how is this any different then eggs being scrambled.

Eggs don't yet have a face

But seriously, if you receive chicks that are sickly after the trip, you then have to put time into nursing them back to health, whereas a broken or cracked egg is tossed in the trash and thats the end of it. When I received my unpleasant shipment it cost me an afternoon of work because I then had to deal with sickly chicks on my hands (or risk more dying) that I wasn't planning on. Like it wasn't bad enough that the ones I paid for didn't make it but then I had the burden of dealing with the aftermath as well. There just has to be more trust involved imo than with eggs.

But the point is well taken, if you don't want to deal with shipped chicks, don't claim them. Makes sense to me.

I see your point, It is a risk that both parties must realize up front, If not willing to take the risk then you should not claim.

I would take the risk of shipped chicks. But I do agree that it should be a second offer, with the eggs still being a primary offer. I do understand that it does cost more to ship chicks then eggs though.

I would gladly take the risk of shipped chicks! You don't have to wait three whole weeks for the cuteness(but I would also be willing to accept that some died, too)!
Maybe make the new rule that if 6 chicks are offered and they arrive within the time specified, then at least 6 chicks must be alive or replacements must be sent? It would discourage people from offering chicks unless they were prepared to ship them safely and carefully.
