I'm hoping for a few hens. Toss some in with my Legbars and maybe my polish. I can see it now, NN Polish. Big ole puffy crest with a naked neck.

What a fun idea! We love our one remaining NN hen - we did finally hatch one of her eggs recently and hatched a little NN cutie (not sure if girl or boy yet though). Beth has some great EE NNs

OOOo I have hatched some FUNKY NN chicks from my Polish pen.

I need to get some new pictures.

Nobody wants my eggs...

All right... I just got back into poultry from a 5 year break while I went to college. When I left, it was impossible to keep up with the demand for Buff Orps and Dominiques. Now, not so much. I can sell all the hens and pullets I want to here in the area and they go like hotcakes, but nobody wants hatching eggs or roos.

Serious question... This is the part where I find new chickens to focus on... Any suggestions?

I have some pure Greenfire lines Coronation Sussex chicks and SQ Silkie chicks from Catdance lines and from CJ Silkies in the brooder. I also have some bantam cochins that are growing out. I just sold all my adult ducks. I no longer have any project campbell/rouen crosses, and also sold all the ducklings that I didn't want to keep. Out of around 40 ducklings that I hatched, I kept 8 pure campbells (3 white, 4 dark, and 2 khaki). So, I hope to have some eggs from them in the spring. The Pilgrim geese aren't laying since it is fall and I already have a waiting list on goslings once they do start laying in the spring... I have some SQ Buff Orpington chicks and hatching eggs from Greenfire Lemon Cuckoo Orps, Greenfire Light Sussex, Hink-jc Lavender Orps, and more Greenfire/Presley Coros coming in the spring, but that's going to put any eggs from them into next fall... Any other ideas?

sounds like a great variety to me!!!

I think the raffle for charity is a grand idea! I will definitely participate.
somewhere I seem to think that it is against Paypal to do raffle collections. If that were the case, I am not a 'rule breaker' by nature -- stretch them, yes, but even the "gifting" always feels a bit weird to me when I do it .......

I would be happy enough if we could do a random drawing thing even. Would love have some of my exhibition-style eggs listed if we have an option listing available for the lucky winner no matter how it gets set up =:~)

Just way toooooo much fun no matter you guys slice it!

regards, k/

ok, thanks for letting me pick all your brains.. still pondering how to do the incubation.....

Those of you that put your eggs in a different place for lockdown, is that because you stagger your hatches and so you have other eggs that need to stay in the incubator still at the lower humidity, or is there another advantage?

Cute little Solo, serama from crazypetlady eggs :) Rachael would this baby be silkied and booted?

I have a separate hatcher. My bator hold 540 eggs, so I kinda need to have a separate hatcher for lockdown. The hatcher is pretty big too. I think 120 eggs is the most I have put in there in hatcher baskets 4 on each layer and 3 high

SO in short yes for staggared hatches and YOU WILL WANT THAT. Some people use the bator and just up the humidity for 3 days. I would not want to do it that way, but if I had to I would.
