Oh, tonight we switch times, eh? Ok, thanks for the reminder.

Does anyone think that people would be interested in some Phoenix/Bantam EE crosses that lay a blue egg next year? How about the Ohiki look alikes created with the American Onagadori (non-molting longtails) and Bantam Lemon Cuckoo Cochin? Ummm, or Citron Spangled Hamburgs? I'm putting together breeding pen ideas here, and since it's a slooooooow night I thought I'd throw some questions out there. I know some of these aren't purebred, but I'd have those to offer too - d'Uccles of various varieties, Phoenix, possibly Nankins.

Just looking for some feedback. Thanks.

I would be after those bantam lemon cuckoo cochin!

I have one of madamwlf's cream legbar eggs that was due to hatch on Thursday. My other one hatched on Wednesday night. It still has veins but it has not pipped yet. How long do I need to wait before I try to help it?
Is it still moving? Keep an eye on it. Maybe it was in a part of the incubator that was a bit colder.

You could always crack a tiny hole with a pin in the very top to see what the membrane looks like - if its the last one in the bator its possible it dried out and the chick might be stuck...

Here is one of my 2 month old chicks playing momma to her second set of babies. She has a strong mothering instinct. I think she's a keeper for baby raising. In the pic she was calling the chicks to her so she could sit on them. They had just came out of the bator and where still wet and the brooder hadn't warmed up yet. So I put little momma in to do her thing. Once it warmed up I put her back with her other 7 babies. The dark baby is a glue split to lav and the light one is a splash. There is another splash but it didn't go to her but to the heat lamp instead.

This is her first brood. You can see she still has pin feathers on her neck and head
Some of those chicks look like they might be buff isabels. If they are, I claim them. jk

I have a self blue and a blue split to lav from emvickrey's eggs in my brooder right now. They're so cute and have HUGE vaults.

I saw someone post that they are out of swaps until tomorrow. Forgive me if I'm wrong, but I interpret the new week starting at 12:01AM EST on Sunday to mean that you get new swaps first thing Sunday morning, not Monday. Is that right?

It's not that I'm out of swaps -- it's that I've got a paypal I can't send till I get to the bank tomorrow. Newbie & need to fulfill my current swap offers before grabbing any more! Which is good

-- I spent a hundred dollars on chickens last week! ACK! And that doesn't include the trip to the feed store...

Oh and hey, on Wayne's last offer -- the little white chickens with black tails at the bottom that look like porcelain figurines. What are they? They're adorable!
