Oh my gosh!!! I leave for just a short time and the whole swap goes wild!!! I missed so many eggs!

I need to get DH started working on the wiring to my cabinet bator so I can get it tested and ready for spring. I plan to hatch alot of quail. It will hold 600 quail eggs. I want to have quail for dinner at least once a week if not more. Then do some trading for deer and fish. I nearly had our freezer full for the winter storage. Our garden was a flop this year. We got alot of okra and some peas put away but not nearly as much as I wanted. We had to replant twice and with the delay about the time the okra started to really go crazy we got a frost. I only had about a dozen pea bushes that made it so I had to pick and save to make enough for a meal.

I'll probably trade for some meaties in the spring for next winters meals.

That's what started the whole health department/neighbor/chicken battle. We were out of power for the upcoming 12 hours I offered my neighbor to use our generator and happened to mention I had 300 eggs in the bator that we needed to fire up the generator for. They assumed we were running a Tyson chicken hatchery in our living room not just a hobby.

Last time the power went off we just stood in the driveway laughing and starting our generator. No more auxiliary power offers for the chicken haters!!

Well they were shipped eggs so really it's only like 150

Oh, my, I wish when our power goes off it was only for 12 hours. When our power goes out, it usually is off for up to a week! It is usually hot, humid, and just horrible out. Dang storms anyway.
