My broody hatched all 7 of the eggs sent. 1 died under the broody the first night 2 more disappeared...so 4 little quackers running the barnyard.And since I only keep Muscovy, a wonderful friend of mine will take them home.
I am so sorry to hear about your birds.Sorry. I've been gone for a few days because of a crisis that turned out to be a misunderstanding on my end. In the end, I misinterpreted what the APHIS people were telling me and sold all my birds except for the Silkies and Pilgrim geese because some of my chickens got the respiratory version of fowl pox. They told me that it is really dangerous especially for chicks since it affects their lungs and can have near 100% mortality in chicks. They told me to vaccinate the ones not affected yet. I misinterpreted what they said to mean that if my chicks caught it, they would all die even with a vaccination and sold all my birds to a lady for only about $1 each. Apparently, she knew that fowl pox vaccination would save them from getting the respiratory version and grabbed them up within minutes of me posting them. Well, turns out, if I vaccinate the birds not showing symptoms, they will be 100% fine. So, long story short, my Silkies will be vaccinated this week, but everyone else is gone and the lady doesn't seem interested in selling any of the birds back.
I have accepted eggs that weren't from NPIP flocks. I won't bring older birds in from non NPIP flocks but I don't have a problem bringing eggs in.I forgot to change my addressBut I did now... but Mom & Dad got a couple in the mail...I get to use one. whew
Got a question.... If I become NPIP certified, am I only able to accept eggs from people that are NPIP? The guy called today while I was gone. I am going to call him back tomorrow.
