How long after he peeps is he ok? The first peeped around lunch today! He has made the hole bigger but still not that much.

It can take 24 hours or more for them actually hatch after they pip through the shell. Usually they zip within that 24, but not always. They do a lot of resting and positioning not to mention absorbing yolk letting the membranes dry and practicing breathing after they pip.
Yes, they are motivated from hearing others. When my first one starts peeping from inside or pipping, I play a youtube video of chicks chirping for them by the bator to keep them motivated....lol Every couple hours I'll play it and they will get moving...lolAnother eggs is peeping... And the other 3 are rocking... Once the heard the first chick they all started moving and the other broke through
