Please could someone help me out with a few questions I have?

I bought 6 Embden x Buff goose eggs the other day. I’m setting them today. The more I read the deeper the black hole gets lol...

What temperature should I be incubating them at?

Do they need extra humidity until lockdown?

Do they need spraying with water or cool downs everyday?

How much humidity do they need at lockdown?

Thanks for any help you can give! And if you have any other tips for incubating they’d be appreciated :)

Hi guys, newbie here and first timer at incubating. I've just set my embden goose eggs in the incubator this morning. I've had it running for the past 2 days and the temperature (37.5 c) and the humidity (57%) was stable however the humidity has raised to 67% and returned to that level after turning. I know that goose eggs require higher humidity than hens but is this too high and if so how do I go about reducing it? Thanks in advance for your advice and help

That is probably too high. I haven't actually found that geese require a higher humidity than other eggs; I do them at around 30% like all the rest of the poultry I do.

To lower the humidity, you need to lower the surface area of the water in your incubator. This may mean emptying a water channel or removing a dish of water you had added, etc.

Hi guys, an update. Started off with 14 eggs and hatched 13. Lost the first one after it externally pipped but couldn't break the membrane even though my humidity was 80 %. After that heart break I decided to take action Any time one of them externally pipped I took a forceps and further opened the crack and made sure the membrane was torn Didn't take long and was straight back into the incubator. This site was a great font of knowledge and I'd like to thank every contributor for adding to that body of knowledge!

That's a fantastic hatch - congratulations! Sorry that one didn't make it...the decision whether or not to intervene is always a difficult one. :hugs

Looking forward to seeing some gosling pics!
