Hatching emergency

So this morning I have 6 chicks and one still hatching. I will now begin my hatch rate talleys 😆 At about 2am I did assist the sideways zipper by breaking just enough to get it going the right way. She finished it. Now I have one lazy Isbar to wait on.. Only one problem. They all look like their dad so I can't tell which ones are my mixes..
Haha! Congratulations on your chicks! :jumpy:clap Pics?

I don't have good pics now. I'll upload some more once they dry and are in the brooder.. You are right about the obvious fact that flipping them makes them take longer.. My "lazy Isbar" is the upside down pipper.. She's active and trying though.. So, I can't say I regret it.. Someone in another thread told me they lost a bird the same way.. She has the same incubator too. I think maybe the grated hatch mats are safer in cases of upside down pipping??

Yes, they can still get air through the mats so it's fine. Yeah, I've just had bad luck flipping them. It's all a learning experience. She may need assistance if she doesn't make it out by tomorrow.

Well I have my cornstarch, coconut oil, tweezers and towels just in case.. This would be my second assisted hatch. Although the fist one was partial assistance. The rest of the chicks got her out after I painstakingly picked little bits of the shell over a 6 hour time span..

All the other ones were dry and stir crazy so I moved them about 2 hours ago. I'm glad I did. After I was able to notice the still hatching bird was cheeping frantically. I noticed she was shink wrapped.. I assisted her. Now she just has to finish pushing the shell off her bum and she can join her hatch mates in the morning...
