First Calm down. Take a deep breath. If *I* can hatch 11 of 12 eggs in a styrphome (sP) borrowed , just had the flyer that came with the bator for instructions, YOU CAN DO IT TOO. (ok, maybe not that high a hatch rate, but I only wanted 3 or 4 to hatch, it was a classroom situation, so you KNOW they are all pretty much gonna hatch...
)
Oh, and the person who lent me the 'bator told me to put a wet sponge in it and rewet it every day. That's it. That's all I knew about hatching eggs.
So I read the flyer and did what it said. "Set thermostat to 100 degrees. When it reaches temperature add eggs, laying on their side. " That's it. Now someone told me to turn them twice a day. NO ONE told me about "lock down", so I turned them every day till the chicks appears. No one told me about candleing them to weed out the "dead" ones. (Oh well, they hatched)
So it isn't as exact a science as some seem to think. Their way works for them, and maybe a few of their friends. Someone else's way works for another group of people. Give it your best shot and everything will be fine. Really. Unless you cook them before you set them, they'll hatch if they are supposed to hatch.
I hope you hatch a great bunch of chicks to add to your flock. You sound like a very caring person
