Hatching for Valentine's Day???

I candled a few of my BamaChicken silkies tonight. I saw the beginning of 'spiders' in the ones I checked!

I also have 2 of my own silkie's eggs in there. Didn't see any spiders yet, but the bottom of the egg is darker than the top, which usually means it is developing! My little Nugget egg (blue OEGB pullet

) isn't doing anything. Didn't think it would, but I had an empty space in the bator

Do some just naturally develop fast that others?

What I saw last night looked like a bump on the side of the yolk. Tonight, the bump I saw on them was gone and now replaced with a dark dot.

I'm not sure. I did have some duck eggs a month or so ago that were like that. I could see veins in all of them at day 7 except one. I left that one in there anyway. At day 12ish, I could just barely see veins in that one egg. That was one of the 6 that hatched.

I think a lot has to do with where in the egg they develop, and the thickness/color of the shell.

I'm candling tonight!! It's only Day 6...but I need to see! One of my eggs seems to have a very thick shell. I hope I can see what's inside! I made my own candling tool; a homemade funnel attatched to a heavy duty flashlight.

I hardly ever wait! It isn't good to handle them a lot though if they are shipped eggs. They are so fragile to start with from all the shipping, I think candling excessively is just too much for them!
