hatching geese eggs

I think I might have to fire up the hovabator for the duckers. I hate that thing.

i'm hand rolling side to side 180 3x daily. here my schedule 7-10am 1-4 pm 8-11 pm i do this for all my eggs. chicken ,quail , call duck, runner duck and now goose eggs.

my goose eggs are like baseballs almost they are huge.

I have an Rcom Suro that i bought after numerous crappy hatches with the hova. I had no idea the goose eggs were going to be so big though! I really doubt I will get everything in.

Not to be nosy, but, what kind of an issue do you have with your Hova? I loved mine but hated the LG. I now have a cabinet incubator and hatcher hubby built so I only use them now, got rid of the foam ones. Just curious if there is anything I can suggest for your issues with the Hova???

Not nosy at all! I never had a good hatch in it. Dreadful in fact - like 2 out of 40 eggs. I do think I had some fertility issues at first but later on once I got that sorted out I could never keep the temps stable. They were totally all over the place ie 94 - 107. The room that it was in was climate controlled and I was using a Brinsea Spot Check to keep an eye on the temps. I don't mind trying again as I didn't pay too much for the duck eggs, perhaps I will have better luck this time. It's a 1632 if that makes any difference.

sorry i dont know much about a hova. i have never used one. working my way up on being an LG queen. lol. candled all my eggs last night again lol all look good the 2 slackers have caught up and all look even now in growth. cant believe i have 11 fertile. my 12.00 was a shot in the dark. this may turn out to be the best 12.00 i ever spent.

Hmm... 94-107 is way to much of a temperature difference. Sounds life maybe a wafer problem... I had one that went wonky with the temperature spread and it turned out to be a bad wafer, replaced it and I then had about a 1 degree variance.

Do you have the plugs inserted or do you run it without? I always left the plugs out until I got to the point when I had to increase the humidity for hatch.

I now use a digital temperature/hygrometer; it is normally used in a humidor for cigars. Preset but can be calibrated... got it off Ebay and it was less than 20.00 shipped. Most accurate thing I have used. Here is a link to the item if you want to look at it.

my lg varies too 97-102 but its a still air it runs at 100 pretty good. its only the room temp at makes it vary depending on time of day. i use my plugs in and out to change temp. some time one plug , 2 plugs or no plugs. have not touched my temp dial in 3 months. i only use plugs to change temp. i also open spare room door if too cold. l also use blinds in room to change temp too lol. everything but touch my dial. i am laid off so i am home to babysit. being laid off has helped my hatching lol.
