Hatching Grocery store eggs attempt

I thought about trying but when I went to Trader Joe's there weren't any fertile eggs in their egg case. I hatch out a lot of my own chicks. Just wanted to give it a try. Next time I go to town I'll check out the health food store and see if they carry fertile egg. Not going to try to hatch any now but maybe in the future out of curiosity.

So you are talking about regular grocery store eggs? Are they not refrigerated?

They are grocery store eggs and are refrigerated. They’re from Publix.

Well the first time I heard of hatching store bought eggs was a lady in Europe. She was definitely excited about it. Lol.

Trader Joe's is more toward a specialty grocery store. In years past I have seen fertile eggs in their egg case. Grocery store eggs, no way. If anyone has hatched any chicks from regular grocery stores like Walmart, it must have been a fluke. Most producers of eggs do not put males in with their layers. They are only interested in egg production. The layers burn out pretty fast and are replaced with new layers.

Yep I agree. I have cracked a few Safeway eggs and looked to see if it was fertile and it was not.

Assuming perfectly fertile eggs, does the refrigeration not kill them?

I don't think I can hatch a Trader Joe's eggs, I don't want a cross of something that I have to feed.

Ummm, you'd have to feed any chicks that you incubate, right?

In the past on older threads of people who have hatched Trader Joe's fertile brown eggs, they turned out to be Rhode Island Reds if I recall correctly.
