I have 17 eggs in the incubator. Yesterday was day 21, out of 17 eggs we put in only 2 hatched yesterday morning/afternoon. Since those 2 the other eggs have not even started pipping. Should I be worried no other eggs have started hatching? Should I leave the baby chicks in there until they do or should I take them out? I’m sorry I’m new to this and I have never had chicks not hatch all at the same time or around the same time. Thank you for all help!

Chicks can take over a day, sometimes up to an extra 3+ days to hatch. After a few days, you might want to check up on them and candle them after more hatch and no one else has pipped. The chicks can stay in there for close to 72 hours, but preferably 24-48 hours only. What's the temp and humidity at? Were all the eggs put in at the same time? Did you candle the eggs all throughout incubation to see which ones were still living? Don't be worried, eggs can take more than just day 21 to hatch :D I hope all is well!!

The temp is 100 and humidity has been averaging around 68%. I have candled the eggs throughout. My last candling was on day 18 and everything looked to be good. The only thing I did mess up was I forgot to stop the egg turning until almost the end of day 19, idk if that could cause this or if that’s fine. One egg has started to pip so I’m trying to wait until that one finally hatches to take these 2 out, so hopefully it won’t be too long. My first hatched about 24 hours ago. Thank you so much for your help!

The egg turner being on shouldn't be much of a big deal, they just might need extra time to position themselves and absorb all of their yolk and hatch, so you should be fine. after the one hatches and no one else seems to be hatching, try candling them to see what they look like and where they're positioned. :wee😁

Awesome, thank you so much, you’re a lifesaver!

Interested if anymore hatched as I had 5 eggs which had been sat on by a very disciplined silkie for 23 days without any success. So took the eggs out and dissected 2, one developed but deceased and one alive but hadn’t absorbed all yolk and subsequently died. This prompted me to give the other 3 a go in the incubator and all 3 have now hatched … 2 at day 26 and 1 in day 27. Quite extraordinary I think.

Sorry for the late reply, unfortunately no more hatched. We had lost one as it was hatching. The others had all died I would say around my last candling at day 19. I bought a hydrometer and thermometer and am now waiting on another batch to hatch in the incubator. Hopefully this time I have better success. My thermometer I was using was off by 3 degrees and my humidity was off by almost 10% so I assume that definitely played a role.
